Billing Accountant / Credit Controller - Madrid - 6 Months FTC

The key purpose of this role is to support the firm with billing and Credit control, supporting the management of the billing and credit control function across Europe
Key Responsibilities
- Regular review of aged work in progress and meeting with designated partners
- Working with department heads to gather accurate monthly billing forecasts
- Prompt and accurate production of all bills submitted for processing
- Recommend and lead process improvements initiatives
- Provide technical guidance and support to team members as required
- Document internal controls and procedures
- Enforce and comply with the documented internal controls surrounding assigned billing/invoicing processes
- Act as primary billing/invoicing contact for both internal and external auditors
- Working knowledge of VAT
- Manage client queries on billing & usage within the required SLA’s, working with internal teams to reach a successful conclusion.
- Raise any issues that may affect billing with the Finance Manager
- Collaborating closely with the Europe billing teams to verify the correctness of monthly proformas.
- Contributing to the preparation of essential reports that provide valuable insights
- Generating detailed time and billing reports to aid in informed decision-making
- Create and provide accurate usage reports for clients using 3E reports
- Processing of all write offs of unbillable time
- Ensuring that all bills submitted for processing comply with all relevant VAT
- Ensuring that all bills are sent out as soon as possible after they have been processed
- Provide support to Finance Manager
Essential Skills & Experience
The successful applicant will:
- Have excellent proficiency in written and verbal English
- Ideally fully qualified with either one of these qualifications: ACA/ACCA/CTA or country equivalent.
- Excellent attention to detail
- Flexible and hands on attitude
- Strong communication skills with the ability to support partners and fee earners at all levels
- Ability to work autonomously
- Experience of working in a professional services environment is desired.
- Strong numeracy skills and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong time management and organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Good interpersonal skills and be able to work in a team
- A solid understanding of electronic billing systems to streamline processes
- A proactive attitude and a collaborative approach to working within a high-performing team
- Able to remain calm, managing and prioritising your workload to complete time sensitive tasks
- Happy working as part of a team and taking responsibility for personal workload
