Job Description:

The Senior Inventory Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring that all inventory balances, sales, cost of sales and its components, and shrink are valued correctly and stated accurately in the financial statements and weekly reports. This responsibility covers divisions or companies that is designed to support the RPI stores. The Senior Manager also works to continually improve all processes related to the Retail and IHM systems, PDI and WorkDay, and is responsible for developing solutions through use of technology, wherever possible, to drive efficiencies throughout the month-end close process, and other retail system procedures.  The Senior Inventory Accounting Manager is also responsible for helping to develop the strategic vision of the Inventory Accounting department in coordination with the Accounting department.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages the day-to-day tasks and responsibilities of the store, fuel and IHM teams along with the Senior Accountants
  • Reviews all margins and shrink data before approving the financial book schedules that are assigned to the Inventory Accounting department at month end
  • Manages the loan amortization schedule and statements and prepare the journal entry to book the loans and related accounts.
  • Ensures RaceTrac accounting policies and practices are in accordance with current Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Monitors changes and assesses the impact to RaceTrac.
  • Promotes communication and strong relationships between Inventory Accounting and other internal departments, such as: Category Management, Supply Chain, Marketing, Cash Management, Payment Systems, and Operations
  • Helps to professionally develop Inventory Accounting team members
  • Creates efficiencies for all tasks and processes used by the Inventory Accounting team
  • Carries out ad hoc reports/assignments as needed
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of department wide plans, goals, and deadlines
  • Develops and maintains strong working relationships with internal departments and outside vendors
  • Supports the Executive Director of Retail Accounting with special projects and workflow process improvements as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University with a concentration in finance, business, accounting or related field of study
  • 3-5 years accounting experience
  • 1-2 years managerial experience
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of US GAAP
  • Advanced experience using MS Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • CPA is a plus
