Job Summary:
The Procurement Market Insights Manager is a ‘future-forward’ role responsible for delivering fact‑based, forward‑looking market intelligence to enable strategic sourcing decisions, cost management, and risk mitigation. This role translates external market dynamics (raw materials, logistics, labor, energy, supplier economics) into actionable insights that shape category strategies, negotiations, and executive decision‑making.
The position partners closely with Strategic Sourcing, Finance, Supply Chain, and Operations to ensure procurement decisions are grounded in robust market data and scenario analysis
Key Responsibilities:
Market Intelligence & Analytics
- Develop a small nimble team to maintain a structured market‑intelligence framework covering key procurement spend areas (e.g., raw materials, packaging, electronics, logistics, chemicals).
- Track and analyze macroeconomic indicators, commodity indices, inflation drivers, FX, energy, and labor trends impacting procurement cost structures.
- Build should‑cost models, index‑linked cost drivers, and price‑movement forecasts to support negotiations and cost governance.
- Translate complex data into clear insights, implications, and recommendations for sourcing teams and senior leadership.
Strategic Sourcing Enablement
- Partner with Category Managers to embed market insights into category strategies, RFPs, supplier negotiations, and contract indexation mechanisms.
- Support cost‑avoidance, cost‑reduction, and margin‑protection initiatives through fact‑based analysis.
- Provide benchmarking and supplier‑economics analysis to assess competitiveness and negotiation headroom.
Risk & Scenario Management
- Identify emerging supply, price, and geopolitical risks; assess potential business impact and mitigation options.
- Develop best‑ / base‑ / worst‑case cost scenarios and sensitivities for executive reviews and planning cycles.
- Support business‑continuity planning by linking market disruptions to supplier and category exposure.
Stakeholder & Executive Communication
- Create executive‑level briefings, and presentations for FLT / ELT discussions, earnings support, and annual planning.
- Act as a trusted advisor to Procurement leadership on external market developments and their financial implications.
- Ensure consistent “single version of truth” on market trends across Procurement, Finance, and Supply Chain.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of professional experience in Procurement research or Market research. Additional experience in manufacturing or engineering, is desirable
- Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills with ability to alternate between helicopter view and high attention to detail & accuracy
- Ability to execute high quality (quantitative & qualitative) analyses to communicate a story to key stakeholders.
- Excellent written/oral communication skills for reports and presentations
- Willingness to travel occasionally (20%)
