You listen and deliver what is most helpful for the customer. You assist fellow sales Googlers by problem-solving key technical issues for our customers. You liaise with the product marketing management and engineering teams to stay on top of industry trends and devise enhancements to Google Cloud products.

As a Practice Customer Engineer, you will partner with technical business teams as a data analytics subject matter expert to differentiate Google Cloud to our customers. You will help prospective and existing customers and partners understand the power of Google Cloud, develop creative cloud solutions and architectures to solve their business issues, engage in proofs-of-concepts, and troubleshoot any technical questions and roadblocks related to database migrations, data back ends and all aspects of the data lifecycle. You will use your experience and presentation skills to engage with customers to understand their business and technical requirements, and persuasively present practical and useful solutions on Google Cloud. You will have excellent technical, communication and organizational skills. Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience as a technical sales engineer in a cloud computing environment or a customer-facing role.
  • Experience with Apache Spark and analytic warehouse solutions (e.g., Teradata, Netezza, Vertica, SQL-Server, and Big Data technologies).
  • Experience implementing analytics systems architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Experience with technical sales or professional consulting in cloud computing, data, information life-cycle management, and Big Data.
  • Experience with coding languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, C++, Scala, R, or Go).
  • Experience developing data warehousing, data lakes, batch, or real-time event processing and ETL workflow solutions, including architecture design, implementing, tuning, schema design, query of and distributed systems.
  • Knowledge of Linux, Web 2.0 development platforms, solutions, and related technologies (e.g., HTTP, Basic/NTLM,sessions, XML/XSLT/XHTML/HTML).
  • Understanding of DNS, TCP, Firewalls, Proxy Servers, DMZ, Load Balancing, VPN, VPC.
