POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are looking for an analyst level investment accountant to join our team to help drive and deliver our investment accounting functions. This is a great opportunity to advance your investment accounting skills in a fast paced and rewarding industry. The primarily responsibilities for this position include reconciliation of the various bases of accounting (GAAP, US Statutory, BM Statutory and Stand Alone) for our fixed income and alternatives asset classes as well as preparation of the related financial footnote disclosures, investment schedules, and other reporting, including internal management reports and external rating agency surveys.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for supporting the investment accounting and reporting on a US GAAP, US Statutory and Bermuda Statutory basis for Athene USA
  • Preparations of quarterly and annual reporting for consolidated US GAAP (10Q & 10K) and unconsolidated US Statutory filings (quarterly and annual footnote disclosures and investment schedules)
  • Perform monthly and quarterly reconciliations of investment data to GL for applicable bases of accounting
  • Review of investment portfolio activity in the ePAM accounting system using proprietary data warehouse and reporter (ARCHIE)
  • Prepare and post journal entries as needed within the close and reconciliation process.
  • Liaise with front office and upstream accounting and operations teams to resolve investment data issues
  • Assist with all other SEC reporting requirements and respond to Investor/Analyst questions and comments
  • Support internal and external audit requests
  • Proactively seek to improve existing processes in order to meet new requirements and/or improve operational reliability and efficiency.
  • Successfully manage the control environment related to Investment Accounting, maintaining/enhancing Investment Accounting process documentation and provide support internal and external audit requests.
  • Support the financial analysis of operating results, balance sheets, and other key performance indicators related to annual planning, quarterly forecasting, and analysis against actual results.
  • Provide regular updates to investment accounting management keeping them abreast of any issues, shortcomings, or accomplishments of the team.
  • Stay abreast of market conditions, investment strategies, the changing accounting literature and regulatory guidance to ensure compliance in accounting and reporting.
  • Other relevant projects and tasks, as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 4-7 years of accounting or analysis experience required.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel experience required.
  • Experience preparing and presenting financial reports is strongly desired.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and adjust quickly in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to change priorities to meet critical deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently on assignments of various levels of complexity with minimal direction
  • Knowledge of GAAP and Statutory financial accounting regulations preferred.
  • Knowledge of fixed income investments and applicable accounting guidance preferred.
  • PAM for Investments (PFI), Blackline or other investment accounting systems strongly desired.
