Job Statement

Genesis Minerals have an exciting opportunity for a Geotechnical Technician within our Geotechnical Engineering team at Leonora in Western Australia.

In this role you will be assisting the Geotechnical Department in effective monitoring of ground support QA/QC, gathering, coordination and communication of data to ensure the safe execution of mining activities for the Gwalia underground mine.

This is a permanent full-time opportunity on a 8 days on, 6 days off roster Fly-In Fly-Out, Drive-in Drive-out, or Residential basis.

Flight time from Perth, is just over 1 hour to Leonora then a short bus ride to your accommodation in town and a 10-minute drive to our Gwalia mine site.

The opportunity

  • Assist the Geotechnical Engineer with quality control and quality assurance (QAQC) requirements, including:

    • Ground support storage and installation quality of rock bolts, cables, mesh and fibrecrete.

    • Fibrecrete batching, delivery and application.

    • Cable grout mixing and application.

    • QAQC of fibrecrete and cable grout strength testing preparation (on site) and follow up on strength testing results.

    • Arrange & assist with pull testing of ground support by suppliers.

    • QAQC Reporting.

  • Assist the Geotechnical Engineer in the maintenance of the instrumentation programs, including fault finding, basic trouble shooting and hardware replacement

  • Manage stock levels and conduct installations of seismic sensors and other geotechnical instrumentation as required.

  • Taking an active role in contributing to and executing continuous improvement projects.

We would love to hear from you if you have​:

  • Qualifications in the Geotechnical sector (TAFE or Degree) or relevant years of experience.

  • Experience in a similar role within Underground Mining, ideally in Western Australia.

  • Current unencumbered West Australian C Class Manual Driver’s Licence.
