Benefit Analyst

The Benefit Analyst supports both the practice group and individual customer teams serving large and jumbo market-segment employer groups. They are integral in all aspects of administrative, technical, analytical and project support. The Benefit Analyst supports senior team members in developing benefit strategies, evaluating carrier and vendor solutions, and executing service plans for complex large-employer programs, as well as daily tasks necessary to further the practice group and business. Under the direction of more senior teammates, the Benefit Analyst executes assigned analyses and support tasks, escalating judgement calls when needed. The essential functions of the role include some administrative/clerical responsibilities, CRM platform management, data analysis, financial modeling, RFP development, policy and contract review, implementation support, and preparation of customer-ready deliverables.

The qualified candidate must have the ability to learn the spectrum of employer-sponsored life and disability-related plans, including product design, underwriting considerations, enrollment requirements, administrative processes, and federal and state regulations that impact these plans.

Your Impact

  • Support Account Managers, Senior Account Managers, Account Executives, Senior Account Executives and practice group leadership in servicing large and jumbo employer customers with complex life, disability, and LTC benefit programs.

  • Collect, analyze, and prepare data to support renewals, RFPs, customer reporting, implementation activities, and day-to-day service needs.

  • Build and maintain product, rate, premium, participation, and financial analysis spreadsheets for both internal and customer-facing evaluations.

  • Assist in the development and execution of carrier marketing efforts and RFPs, including compilation of carrier responses, follow-up questions, comparison exhibits, and summary analysis.

  • Demonstrates progress towards independent creation of standard customer-facing materials, such as proposals, renewal exhibits or reporting dashboards within initial 12 months.

  • Review policies, certificates, contracts, and plan summaries for technical accuracy and alignment with sold terms and plan intent.

  • Support implementation and change-management activities, including timeline tracking, data file coordination, evidence of insurability monitoring, and issue resolution support.

  • Prepare draft presentations, stewardship materials, benchmark exhibits, and meeting summaries for review by more senior team members.

  • Attend customer, carrier, and internal meetings as needed to document follow-up items, deadlines, and responsibilities.

  • Conduct research on compliance and regulatory topics affecting life and disability programs and summarize findings for the team.

  • Maintain accurate information on internal systems and shared files and ensure work product is complete, organized, and delivered on time.

  • Maintain and update documentation associated with practice-group’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform.

  • Basic/emerging familiarity with dashboard and reporting tools (i.e., Power BI, AgencyBloc).

Successful Candidate Will Have

  • BA/BS (preferred).

  • 0 - 5+ years of employee benefits, insurance, underwriting, and related experience, ideally with experience in the supplemental disability product space.

  • Strong analytical skills with advanced attention to detail, accuracy, and organization.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products; ability to work with large data sets and complex spreadsheets, and ability to maintain detailed documentation.

  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines, prioritize tasks, and work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and willingness to build technical expertise in life, disability, and LTC-related products.

  • Strong customer service orientation, self-motivation and accountability for assigned work product.

  • Life, Accident and Health Insurance License within the first 90 days of employment, if required by jurisdiction.

Pay Range:

21.35 - 31.25 Hourly

The pay range provided above is made in good faith and based on our lowest and highest annual salary or hourly rate paid for the role and takes into account years of experience required, geography, and/or budget for this role.
