Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking to hire a Sr. Staff - Chief Engineer for the Mission Defense Team. This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the Sentinel Program.
Be the Chief Engineer for the Mission Defense IPT, reporting to the Sentinel Program Chief Engineer.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Ensure the certifiability of the Sentinel Weapon System for Surety and Cyber
Manage the technical development and direction for all aspects of engineering on a program including design, development, implementation, testing, and delivery of product to a customer
Collect and provide required data for Northrop Grumman program reporting (e.g., IPRS) of engineering performance
Serve as engineering team liaison for communications to/from Program Management, Manufacturing, Operations, customers, and other functional organizations
Oversee technical content for system design reviews (e.g., System Requirements Review (SRR), System Functional Review (SFR), System Design Review (SDR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), System Verification Review (SVR), and Test Readiness Review (TRR)) including entrance and exit criteria
Ensure integration of the overall technical plan within the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS)
Ensure overall technical quality and performance for all engineering content for the program
Ensure the program adheres to sound engineering processes in development, production, test, and sustainment in accordance with company policies, processes, and quality standards
Drive process development, continuous improvement, and affordability initiatives within their associated programs
Collaborate and arbitrate if required with all Product Team Leads to resolve engineering conflicts
Support the program manager in risk and opportunity management by identifying and owning risks associated with system performance
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 14 years of experience with Bachelor's degree, 12 years of experience with Master's degree, 10 years of experience with PhD
Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years
Must be able to be successfully screened for Enhanced Security Clearances, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs
Minimum of 5 years of experience formally leading engineering teams/and or organizations to achieve a common goal
Preferred Qualifications:
Active DoD TS/SCI clearance
Current CISSP or equivalent/greater certification
Experience in weapon system certification
ICBM or complex aerospace systems experience
Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience
Design Engineering/Computer-aided Design (CAD) experience and engineering releases utilizing Product Lifecycle Management tools
Prior experience interfacing with prime contractor site leads and USAF leadership personnel
Experience leading the performance of tasks on schedule, at cost and achieving all requirements as either project lead, integrated program team or cost account manager
Demonstrated effectiveness in achieving results through managing people and understanding and management of internal processes and customer/supplier relationships
Strong understanding and broad application of complex engineering systems (engineering standards, configuration management, material review board, process control, tooling, facilities, software, etc.)
Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities
Experience in working closely with customers to ensure delivery of systems that meet warfighter needs
Ability to collaborate when dealing with groups from diverse organizations and backgrounds
Demonstrated experience in making sound decisions in uncertain and difficult situations
Strong sense of urgency and work ethic in ensuring engineering meets customer and program expectations in a timely and efficient manner

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Primary Level Salary Range: $166,500.00 - $249,700.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
