Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is hiring a Wing Ops Systems Engineering Lead – Staff Systems Engineer (level 5). This position is in Colorado Springs CO, Manhattan Beach CA or Huntsville AL and will support the Sentinel program. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure.

What you will get to do:

The Wing Operations Systems Engineering Lead position will lead a team of systems engineers in developing requirements and architecture for complex Hardware/Software subsystems.  The Lead will work closely with counterparts in Hardware, Software, and Test engineering in order to design, integrate, test, and deliver integrated subsystem capabilities.  The Lead will be responsible for coordinating with a large team of stakeholders and driving consensus and clarity for designs that are still in flux.  The Lead will be responsible for managing tasking, priorities, and execution for a large team of systems engineers that are geographically distributed.  The Lead should have strong and varied experience in requirements and architecture development for complex systems, preferably with hardware and software components.  The Lead will be responsible for distilling high level program and IPT objectives into a tactical, executable vision for their systems engineering team. 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in STEM with 12 years of experience; 10 years of experience with a master’s degree; or 8 years with PhD
  • Must be a U.S Citizen with an active DoD Secret clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP/PAR).
  • 3 years of experience managing requirements in DOORS for complex systems
  • 3 years of experience working with MBSE tools including Cameo
  • 3 years of experience creating logical and physical architecture diagrams
  • 3 years of experience leading engineers in technical leadership positions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance
  • Active S/SAR program clearance
  • Experience managing large engineering teams of 20 or more people
  • Experience working in a dynamic environment with many competing priorities
  • Experience with modeling languages including SysML, DoDAF or UPDM
  • Experience with requirements development for Hardware and/or Software systems
  • Experience with Hardware and/or Software design
  • Experience with integration and test of combined Hardware/Software systems
  • Experience in documenting Interface Control Documents, Interface Requirement Specifications, and Interface Description Documents
  • Experience exporting documentation out of a model-based environment
  • Experience with Agile Development
  • Experience with ICBM weapon systems

This position’s standard work schedule is 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Primary Level Salary Range: $161,000.00 - $241,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
