Senior Engineer

We are looking for a competent Plant Purchase Engineer / Senior Engineer responsible for managing procurement activities related to casting, forging, and critical components used in valves, actuators, and oil & gas applications. The role involves vendor development, cost optimization, timely procurement, and ensuring quality compliance in line with industry standards. The Plan Purchase Engineer will report to the Purchase Manager and will work along with Production, Quality, Stores, and Finance teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Procurement & Sourcing

  • Handle end-to-end procurement of raw materials, castings, forgings, and machined components.

  • Source and develop reliable vendors for foundry and forging requirements.

  • Float RFQs, analyze quotations, and negotiate prices, delivery terms, and contracts.

  • Ensure timely procurement to meet production schedules.

  • Knowledge of Indirect procurement.

Vendor Development & Management

  • Identify and develop new vendors for cost competitiveness and quality improvement.

  • Conduct vendor audits and performance evaluations.

  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure continuity of supply.

Cost Control & Optimization

  • Drive cost reduction initiatives through strategic sourcing and negotiation.

  • Perform cost analysis and benchmarking for materials and services.

  • Monitor market trends for raw materials (steel, alloys, etc.).

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure procured materials meet specifications, drawings, and applicable standards (API, ASTM, ASME, EN,PED,ISO).

  • Coordinate with quality and inspection teams for incoming material inspection.

  • Address supplier quality issues and implement corrective actions.

  • Experience in handling audits like API,ISO,ATEX,PED.

Inventory & Planning Coordination

  • Coordinate with production and planning teams to maintain optimal inventory levels.

  • Avoid stock-outs and excess inventory through effective planning.

  • Monitor inventory turnover and aging stock.

Documentation & ERP Management

  • Prepare purchase orders, contracts, and maintain procurement records.

  • Ensure accurate data entry and tracking in ERP systems.

  • Maintain compliance with company procurement policies and audit requirements.

Logistics Coordination

  • Coordinate with logistics and stores for timely receipt of materials.

  • Track shipments and ensure adherence to delivery schedules.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  • 7–10 years of experience in plant procurement.

  • Experience in casting, forging, valves, actuators, or oil & gas industry preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of casting and forging processes and materials.

  • Familiarity with engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Knowledge of procurement practices, contract management, and vendor negotiations.

  • Understanding of ERP systems and knowledge of quality standards and inspection requirements.

  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, vendor relationship management skills.

  • Willingness to travel for vendor development and audits.
