As a Senior Software Engineer on the W+ Membership team, you will have the opportunity to work on high-impact initiatives that shape the future of customer loyalty at Walmart. You will lead the development of scalable platforms that power membership acquisition, retention, and engagement, while ensuring engineering excellence. As an experienced engineer, you will play a key role in defining technical strategy, driving cross-functional collaboration, and delivering customer-centric solutions. This is a high-visibility role with significant opportunities for growth and impact.

What you'll do:

  • Responsible for the design, architecture, and end-to-end delivery of web applications, reusable libraries, and frameworks, with a strong emphasis on leveraging AI-powered tools for code generation, automation, and cross-platform development.
  • Raise the bar on best practices, code quality, documentation, testing, monitoring, and feature delivery by integrating AI-assisted coding, code review, and testing workflows into the engineering process.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams, sharing AI-driven insights and recommendations for product and process improvements.
  • Champion sustainable engineering by continuously improving best practices, producing best-in-class code, documentation, testing, and monitoring, and adopting AI tools for productivity and quality assurance.
  • Estimate effort, identify risks (including those related to AI adoption), help with prioritization, and devise/meet project schedules.
  • Provide technical guidance to other engineers, especially on AI-powered development workflows, code generation, and cross-platform strategies.
  • Spot broader issues, trends, and implications for the product/team, including the impact of AI and automation on engineering practices and team productivity.

What you'll bring:

  • BE/MS/Ph.D. in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • 6-9 years of strong design/development experience overall, with 6+ years of web development experience.
  • Deeply ingrained web-first design and responsive coding mindset, with demonstrated experience in building scalable, maintainable, and testable web applications.
  • Expertise in ReactJS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern web frameworks.
  • Experience with modular file structures, reusable component design, and best practices for accessibility, performance, and internationalization.
  • Familiarity with REST APIs, asynchronous behaviour, state management (local/global), and testing frameworks (Jest, React Testing Library).
  • Demonstrated understanding of AI concepts relevant to software engineering, including prompt engineering, code generation, and supervisory engineering (reviewing, correcting, and improving AI-generated code).
  • Experience using AI-powered tools for coding, code review, and testing within web development environments.
  • Ability to generate, adapt, and work on code across multiple platforms (Web, Mobile, Backend) using AI tools and cross-platform frameworks.
  • Additional understanding of Rust and experience with SWC plugins, WASM, or Rust-based tooling is a significant advantage.
  • Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
