Position Summary:
Empower Pharmacy is seeking a Data Architect to serve as an individual contributor responsible for designing scalable, fit-for-purpose data architecture across the enterprise. This is a highly technical, execution-oriented role focused on defining data models, integration patterns, architectural standards, and reference designs that improve the quality, usability, security, and scalability of our data ecosystem. The role partners closely with Data Engineering, Analytics, Governance, Security, and business stakeholders to translate business needs into durable data solutions across operational and analytical environments. Hands-on Master Data Management (MDM) experience is highly recommended.
Responsibilities:
- Define conceptual, logical, and physical data architectures across operational, analytical, and curated data environments, ensuring fit-for-purpose designs that support enterprise analytics, reporting, and long-term platform scalability.
- Design scalable data models, including domain and canonical models, and integration patterns for ingestion, transformation, storage, and consumption across modern data platforms to improve consistency, interoperability, and reuse.
- Establish architectural standards and reference designs for data ingestion, storage, transformation, semantic consistency, and consumption to enable reliable and durable data solutions.
- Produce and maintain key architecture artifacts including data models, solution diagrams, source-to-target mappings, interface specifications, lineage expectations, data flow documentation, and technical standards.
- Partner with Data Engineering, Analytics, Governance, Security and Compliance, application teams, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable data solutions and resolve structural data issues.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Demonstrated experience designing enterprise or domain data architectures, data models, and integration patterns in modern cloud environments.
- Advanced expertise in data modeling (conceptual, logical, and physical), SQL, data integration and pipeline design, data quality controls, metadata, and lineage management.
- Experience with ETL/ELT processes, orchestration tools, metadata/catalog solutions, and API or file-based integration patterns preferred.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, systems thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to influence across technical and business teams.
- Knowledge of Master Data Management (MDM) concepts or implementation experience strongly preferred.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in data architecture, with prior hands-on experience in data engineering, data management, analytics engineering, or related technical disciplines.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, data engineering, software engineering, or a related technical field required.
- DAMA/CDMP or other relevant data architecture, cloud, governance, or MDM certifications preferred.
