Senior Hardware Compliance Engineer

WHOOP is seeking a Senior Hardware Compliance Engineer to lead regulatory and compliance efforts across our hardware portfolio. This role will own end-to-end compliance strategy and execution for new product introductions and continuous improvement projects, ensuring our devices meet global regulatory, safety, and environmental standards.

You will work cross-functionally with hardware, firmware, operations, quality, and external test labs to bring products to market efficiently and compliantly.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Own and execute the hardware compliance strategy for new product introduction (NPI) and continuous improvement (CI) projects.

  • Plan, coordinate, and run compliance testing including (but not limited to):

  • FCC / ISED / CE (EMC, RF)

  • Safety (IEC/UL standards)

  • SAR / RF exposure

  • Manage relationships with external test labs and certification bodies

  • Drive pre-compliance testing and debug issues early in development to reduce risk

  • Assess global regulatory requirements and translate them into clear engineering requirements

  • Provide support to Global Market Access projects to ensure timely certifications and filings across key markets

  • Partner with hardware and firmware teams to resolve compliance failures and optimize designs

  • Maintain and organize technical documentation for certifications, including test reports and declarations

  • Support design changes and sustaining updates, ensuring continued compliance across product lifecycleIdentify risks proactively and drive mitigation plans to meet aggressive launch timelines

  • Stay current on evolving regulatory standards and assess impact on WHOOP products

  • QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field

  • 5–8+ years of experience in hardware compliance, regulatory engineering, or product certification

  • Deep knowledge of FCC, CE, and global regulatory frameworks

  • Hands-on experience running EMC/RF testing, SAR, and certification processes

  • Experience working with external labs and certification agencies

  • Ability to debug compliance failures and collaborate on hardware design improvements

  • Knowledge of battery safety standards (IEC 62133, UN38.3)

  • Familiarity with environmental regulations (RoHS, REACH, etc.)

  • Experience supporting global market launches
