BSA/AML Analyst | Acorns

Acorns is seeking a BSA/AML Analyst to join our BSA/AML Team. This role is essential to protecting our customers and the integrity of our platform by conducting deep-dive investigations, monitoring transactions, and ensuring we remain at the forefront of regulatory compliance.

Acorns is a remote-first organization, offering the flexibility to work remotely while providing optional access to office space in Irvine, CA.

What you will do at Acorns:

  • Draft and file high-quality Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) that provide clear, concise narratives for law enforcement and regulators.

  • Perform end-to-end investigations into complex customer activity to identify potential suspicious activity, such as money laundering, identity theft, and fraud.

  • Compare Know Your Customer (KYC) information to Sanctions and Politically Exposed Persons (PEP) lists to verify false and true positives.

  • Analyze transaction patterns and customer profiles to determine if activity is consistent with a customer's known occupation or business purpose.

  • Collaborate with the Product and Engineering teams to refine automated monitoring rules and reduce false positives while maintaining high detection standards.

  • Stay ahead of emerging financial crime trends and regulatory changes to ensure Acorns' controls remain "game-changing" and effective.

  • Assist with internal audits and external regulatory examinations.

What you will bring to Acorns:

  • Proven experience in BSA/AML compliance, specifically within a fintech or high-volume financial services environment.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to connect disparate data points to form a comprehensive view of customer behavior.

  • Technical proficiency with AML monitoring software and case management systems.

  • Excellent written communication skills, with a focus on precision and clarity in investigative reporting.

Compensation Information:

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $100,000 and $108,500/year ; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including equity grants, and discretionary cash bonus awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
