Senior Manufacturing Engineer
Google's custom-designed equipment makes up one of the largest and most powerful computing infrastructures in the world. The Manufacturing Operations team is responsible for providing the manufacturing capability to deliver this state-of-the-art physical infrastructure. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you evaluate the product designs and create the processes, tools and procedures behind Google’s powerful search technology. When vendors build parts for our infrastructure, you’re right there alongside ensuring manufacturing processes are repeatable and controlled. You collaborate with Commodity Managers and Design Engineers to determine Google’s infrastructure needs and product specifications. Your work ensures the various pieces of Google’s infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our systems humming along smoothly for a seamless user experience.
In this role, you will be accountable for the end-to-end manufacturing lifecycle of Cloud hardware, specifically focusing on PCBA, system assembly, and rack integration platforms. Moving beyond traditional sustaining engineering, the manufacturing engineer will lead the transformation toward a "smart factory" ecosystem, leveraging AI, predictive maintenance, and unified data platforms to support hyperscale growth.

Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in SMT and final assembly process development and sustaining.
- Experience with industry manufacturing inspection and testing procedures.
- Experience setting up SPC, CP and CPK monitoring, and with statistical analysis tools.
- Experience working with CAD tools (e.g., Valor, AutoCAD, Cadence Allegro, and Gerber tools).
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, or a related engineering field.
- Experience in technical leadership, project management, and executive communication.
- Experience setting up manufacturing assembly processes, driving product launches, and assembling process optimization within manufacturing operations.
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects within ambiguous environments.
