We are a vibrant, innovative Motorola Solutions R & D center that specializes in the development of world-class digital two-way subscriber radios for public safety users globally


Job Description

  • The Intern – Mechanical Engineer reports to the Team Lead, Device Architecture Design. The successful individual in this role will learn and participate in the development and testing of digital two-way radios. Other job descriptions can extend to:

  • Conduct feasibility studies and prototyping to validate initial ideas and execute Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA).

  • Generate accurate 3D models and 2D drawings per mechanical drafting standards and release mechanical prints.

  • Perform hands-on trouble shooting and failure analysis of electromechanical assemblies by conducting experiments using statistical tools and techniques to validate the hypothesis of the failure. Present the data that may involve statistical methodologies.

  • Support manufacturing aspects such as plastic mold trials, prototype builds in factory and parts / sub-assemblies vendors.

  • Opportunities to further engage, learn, and develop skills as projects progress


Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or in-progress integrated MEng degree in Mechanical Engineering, or other related technical fields.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Self-motivated, assertive, results driven, and consistently delivering outcomes within deadlines.

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and present data using statistical methodologies.

  • Ability to use 3D CAD and familiar with 2D drawing generation, specifically with Pro/E Creo is a plus. Application of CAE tool is a plus.

  • Experience in performing Tolerance Analysis and Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) is a plus.

  • Ability to communicate and present conceptual ideas effectively to technical audiences.

  • Ability to work effectively both as an individual and as a strong team player.
