Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer, Global Manufacturing Operations

In this role, you will play a role in manufacturing mass production of Google’s data center products in Cloud Supply Chain Operations (CSCO). You will have the opportunity to early engage New Product Introduction (NPI), influence Design for Excellence (DFx) changes, lead projects and make significant contributions to Google's manufacturing processes. You will build and deploy technology to support the needs of compute, storage, networking, and machine learning hardware.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in mechanical design, manufacturing and electro-mechanical systems and products.
  • Experience in working with suppliers via Product Life Cycle (PLC) engagement models (e.g., Agreement Manufacturer, Joint Design Manufacturing Model (JDM), and Original Device Manufacturer (ODM)).
  • Experience in 3D CAD (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks), Product Data Management (PDM) systems (e.g., Agile, Windchill), Critical to Function (CTF) dimensioning, 2D drawings and tolerance analysis.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and process capabilities.
  • Knowledge of data center machine and rack designs.
  • Knowledge of fixture design and materials selection of common metals and plastics.
  • Knowledge of Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis/Process Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA/PFMEA) fundamentals.
  • Ability to learn, adapt to new situations, and work as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Excellent technical program management and communication skills.
