Buyer – Exterior Commodities (Glass & Mirror)

This role supports post‑commercial purchasing activities from contract sign‑off through end of production. The Buyer will manage suppliers, execute cost and sourcing strategies, and ensure timely purchasing execution for exterior commodities including Glass and Mirror for the North America market.

Operational Purchasing

  • Manage operational purchasing activities for exterior commodities including Glass, Mirror, and related plastic components.
  • Place Purchase Orders / Transfer Orders accurately and on time.
  • Support purchasing activities from commercial agreement sign‑off through End of Production (EOP).

Cost & Commercial Management

  • Execute Multi‑Year and Calendar‑Year cost claims as per supplier agreements.
  • Perform cost analysis and validate costs for engineering changes.
  • Review cost breakdowns and tooling costs; develop zero‑based cost models.
  • Identify and deliver cost‑saving opportunities.

Supplier & Stakeholder Management

  • Work closely with North America Category Buyers and Cross‑Functional Teams (Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality).
  • Lead commercial discussions and negotiations with suppliers.
  • Resolve commercial and supply issues proactively.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.

Strategic & Risk Management

  • Support and/or lead capacity uplift initiatives with suppliers.
  • Lead resourcing actions including supplier requests, de‑risking, contingency planning, and cost optimisation initiatives.

Provide regular status updates and escalation to management when required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • 4–10 years of experience in Commodity Purchasing / Procurement / Strategic Sourcing.
  • Strong experience handling exterior commodities such as Glass, Mirror, and plastic parts.
  • Prior experience in an OEM automotive environment is required.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Good understanding of supply chain and vendor development processes.
  • Willingness to work in a late evening shift (2:00 PM – 11:30 PM IST) to support North America stakeholders.
