Logistics Material Handler Lead

Position Summary

Oversees and keeps records of all shipping and receiving. Responsible for organizing, sorting, and transferring goods from one location to another. Monitor company packages from the start to finish, ensuring proper packing techniques and shipping practices. Update inventory records and regular reports for the management. Also extends to taking care of customer requests and complaints.

Key role responsibilities:

  • Obtain and process product orders, including receiving deliveries, registering them and distributing packages and letters within the company
  • Maintain the company stockroom through organizing, cleaning and cataloging items on a regular basis
  • Load and unload incoming and outgoing materials and products
  • Move materials to and from loading docks, delivery trucks, storage areas, and manufacturing areas
  • Upload purchase order receipts to ensure accurate inventory and allow payment from customers.
  • Identify and label materials, and record their locations in the warehouse/on the shelves to maintain inventory
  • Prepare finished products for shipment by identifying their location, then pulling, packing, and loading them
  • Operate trucks, forklifts, cranes, and other equipment to move freight
  • Perform and report cycle counts
  • Comply with all warehouse safety rules and guidelines
  • Schedule large shipments and plan logistics to ensure that there is sufficient storage space for incoming items and staff on hand to manage the shipments
  • Keep files of goods shipped and received by preparing regular shipping and receiving reports for managers
  • Ensure adherence to environmental management and systems
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed which may require more than the normal shift hours or work week to meet company needs.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2-3 years of experience working in a warehouse setting or in logistics; experience in operating material handling equipment preferred
  • Must have an eye for detail
  • Must be able to work well in a team
  • Ability to read, write and to follow instructions, and work independently with little guidance
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time; ability to bend and to lift heavy materials
  • Ability to operate computers and relevant warehouse management computer software
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to bend, squat down, reach above your head, and climb stairs and ladders.

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
