Accounting Director - India

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Accountant Director to lead the accounting operations for our entity in India, with 2 locations in Hyderabad (90% of employees) and Mumbai (10% employees) and liaising with the General accounting team located in Melbourne (Australia) or GBS team in Dallas/LosAngeles, mostly in charge of accounts payable process.

This critical role ensures the integrity of financial reporting, compliance with local regulations (IndaGAAP and IFRS), and adherence to global policies.

The Accountant Director supervises all local GAAP financials, local tax, local audit, accounting reporting processes, and actively supports strategic decisions and the implementation of global policies.

This position reports to the Senior Accounting Director of the Rest of World.

Key Responsibilities

• • Financial Reporting & ComplianceWork closely and provide adhoc analysis to the General accounting team in Melbourne in charge of IFRS postings preparation and approval .
  • Ensure strict compliance with Local GAAP, local tax laws, regulatory requirements, and SOX controls.
  • Prepare all documentation requested in accordance with SOX, ICFR and other controls
  • Maintain accurate general ledger records and oversee reconciliation processes in local gaap
  • Prepare financial statements under Indian Companies act
  • Manage local tax filings, statutory reporting, and audits, acting as the key liaison with global accounting teams (Consolidation, Tax) and the General accounting team in Australia.
  • Implement and maintain robust internal controls to protect company assets.
  • Accounting Operations & Treasury &taxPrepare the calculation and invoicing related to transfer pricing and funds requests aligned with intercompany agreements.
  • Ensure FEMA compliance, reporting, documentation, and coordination with banks/RBI
  • Ensure execution of closings, focusing on tax, local GAAP adjustments
  • Review or manage tax filings, GST VAT tax returns , withholding declaration, direct and indirect tax CSR and other in an accurate manner in collaboration with tax advisor and global tax team
  • Ensure fixed assets are created in a timely manner in accordance with the capitalization rules ( costs to be capitalized or not), and the capex budget is accurate and communicated in a timely manner to the general accounting team in Melbourne.
  • Ensure all vendor invoices are communicated to Accounts payable team in a timely & exhaustive manner
  • Ensure revenues and costs are aligned with the budget
  • Ensure accruals are exhaustive and accurate, invoiced, paid in a timely manner ( intercompany, marketing, T&E) transactions
  • Estimate funds needed in order to ensure vendors are paid in a timely manner
  • Follow the credit limit of Amex credit card in order to ensure employees can travel
  • Develop Netsuite in order to generate invoices in accordance with local requirements
  • Audit, Risk Management & PolicyCoordinate both internal and external audits effectively.
  • Develop, document, and maintain comprehensive accounting policies and procedures.
  • Identify potential financial risks and propose effective mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure continuous adherence to internal controls and financial policies (SOX, ICFR, and other).
  • Leadership & CollaborationAct as the final escalation point for complex issues related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, other both internally and externally.
  • Provide necessary training on new accounting standards and system usage to local teams and global teams
  • Foster a culture of accountability and continuous process improvement within Crunchyroll
  • Support the local General Manager and the local work experience manager with administrative management tasks.
  • Collaborate with global tax and finance, accounting in Melbourne and San Francisco/Dallas/LosAngeles, local work experience manager, procurement and external advisors
  • Acts as an authorized signatory for company documents if/when needed..
  • Financial Analysis & Strategic SupportProvide in-depth financial analysis to support key business decisions and global teams.
  • Assist business partners with the annual budgeting and forecasting cycles.
  • Collaborate with senior management on strategic financial planning initiatives.
  • Drive efforts for cost control and efficiency improvements across the entities.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting & Tax or with equivalent experience
• CA credential or equivalent professional certification.

Experience

• +12 years of progressively responsible accounting & tax experience.
• Proven experience with financial reporting and audits under India GAAP and IFRS.
• Familiarity with working for multiple sites, a global team that is part of a large international group (IFRS).

Skills & Competencies

• Fluency in English.
• Strong expert knowledge of India accounting principles and financial regulations.
• Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (Netsuite experience).
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Working Conditions

• This is a full-time position.
• Hybrid role – based in Hyderabad with travels to Mumbai, following the company's office policy.
• May require flexible or extended hours during critical periods such as month/year-end closing and external audits.
