This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Accounts Payable based in India.

This is a senior finance leadership role responsible for shaping and scaling a high-performing Accounts Payable function in a fast-growing, global business environment. The role combines strategic oversight with hands-on operational leadership, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance across all AP processes. You will lead and mentor a team of AP professionals while driving continuous improvement in workflows, systems, and controls. A key focus will be building scalable processes that support high transaction volumes and complex vendor ecosystems across international operations. You will also play a critical role in strengthening financial governance through SOX-compliant controls and audit readiness. Working cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, and Procurement teams, you will help streamline end-to-end financial operations and improve overall business efficiency. This position offers the opportunity to directly influence financial integrity and operational excellence at scale.

Accountabilities:

  • Develop and lead the end-to-end Accounts Payable strategy, ensuring alignment with broader finance and business objectives.
  • Manage, mentor, and grow a high-performing AP team, fostering accountability, accuracy, and operational excellence.
  • Oversee invoice processing, vendor payments, reconciliations, and end-to-end AP operations with a focus on timeliness and control.
  • Drive process optimization initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce operational costs, and scale AP operations effectively.
  • Implement and enhance AP systems, ERP tools, and automation solutions to improve accuracy and workflow performance.
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls, ensuring SOX compliance and adherence to accounting and audit standards.
  • Build strong vendor relationships, ensuring timely payments, dispute resolution, and effective stakeholder management.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Operations, Procurement, and Internal Audit teams to improve process alignment and resolve audit findings.
  • Deliver accurate reporting and insights on AP performance, cash flow impact, and operational KPIs to senior stakeholders.
  • Requirements:

    • 10+ years of experience in Accounts Payable, Finance Operations, or related accounting roles, including 2–4+ years in leadership positions.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • Strong experience managing large-scale AP operations in complex, high-volume environments.
    • Hands-on expertise with ERP systems and accounting platforms (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar).
    • Solid understanding of SOX compliance, internal controls, and audit requirements.
    • Proven ability to design and implement process improvements and automation initiatives.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve complex AP issues.
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills for working across internal teams and external vendors.
    • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment, manage tight deadlines, and lead under pressure.
    • Strong leadership capability with a track record of building, developing, and motivating teams.
