Your Job:
As a Junior Financial Accountant at Brooks, you’ll be a member of our high-performing Finance team. The Junior Financial Accountant EMEA is responsible for assisting with general ledger accounting, month-end close activities and providing support for internal and external audits. The Accounting team works closely with all areas of Finance including Credit & Collections, Accounts Payable and Financial Planning & Analysis to ensure accurate and timely reporting across our EMEA (Europe, Middle East & Africa) operations.
Your Responsibilities:
Prepare and post journal entries for accruals, prepayments and reclasses.
Post bank statement transactions and prepare bank reconciliations.
Prepare and post monthly depreciation and amortization journals and assist with maintaining asset related records.
Support preparation of intercompany entries and assist in maintaining intercompany balances.
Support month-end and year-end close activities.
Assist with balance sheet reconciliations and follow up on identified differences.
Execute assigned internal checks over financial transactions.
Support ad-hoc analysis and reporting requests.
Assist with preparing supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
Ensure all activities follow established processes and internal controls.
Contribute ideas to improve processes and reduce manual work.
Gradually take on more complex accounting tasks as experience grows.
Your Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or studying towards a degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Economics
1+ years of relevant experience in an international organization
A working knowledge of Accounting and VAT
Affinity with ERP systems and an advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail in planning, organization and execution of tasks and anticipating how a decision can affect our customers, our partners, our products or other departments’ operations and/or morale; “connecting the dots”
Open-minded and creative problem solver who is punctual, takes ownership for your work, able to deal with competing priorities and challenges yourself.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Fluency in business English (absolute must), other European language skills are a plus (German, French, Dutch)
