The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Global Data Analytics Lead - Internal Audit, you will partner with Internal Audit leadership, IT, Finance, Compliance, and business stakeholders to enhance audit quality, risk identification, continuous monitoring, and operational efficiency through the effective use of data, analytics, automation, and visualization. This role will embed analytics into audit planning and execution, strengthen risk identification and continuous monitoring, improve audit quality and efficiency, and build scalable analytics capabilities across financial, operational, compliance, and IT audits.
Here, you will make an impact by:
- Execute and lead the Internal Audit analytics strategy by building a global capability and roadmap for data analytics, automation, continuous controls monitoring, visualization, and innovative risk-focused techniques to enhance audit coverage, precision, efficiency, and insight across financial, operational, compliance, and IT audits.
- Integrate analytics into audit planning, risk assessment, and engagements by partnering with audit teams to design risk-focused procedures, support testing and reporting, develop reusable tools, and promote analytics-driven auditing and continuous monitoring across global operations.
- Manage audit data and technology by securing reliable data access, overseeing data quality and transformation, establishing standards for documentation and controls, guiding the use of analytics tools, and supporting governance of models, reports, and automated testing routines.
- Partner with Internal Audit leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to prioritize analytics initiatives, understand risks and controls, communicate actionable insights, and serve as a trusted advisor on data-driven assurance and monitoring.
- Develop and lead the audit analytics team by building skills, standards, tools, and talent pipelines while fostering a culture of innovation, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure audit analytics align with methodology and quality standards, maintain strong controls over data and evidence, support regulatory and management requests, and track effectiveness through performance metrics and reporting.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience working in one of these fields.
- Demonstrated experience leading data analytics programs or teams in an audit, finance, compliance, or risk environment.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Professional certification such as CISA, CRISC, CIA, CA, or a similar credential, with experience in Internal Audit, risk management, controls, audit analytics, or related functions.
- Strong experience working with large datasets in structured and unstructured environments, including enterprise platforms such as SAP, S2K/AS400, or similar ERP systems.
- Proficiency in analytics and visualization tools such as Power BI, Snowflake, SQL, and Python, with experience applying automation, process mining, machine learning, advanced analytics, and continuous controls monitoring in assurance environments.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical findings to non-technical audiences and operate effectively in a global, cross-functional environment.
