Advanced Process Data Analytics and Modeling Internship
About This Role:
As an Intern in Advanced Data Analytics, you will be an integral part of the Global Manufacturing Sciences Team at our Solothurn Biologics Manufacturing facility. Your primary focus will be on harnessing process data analytics and leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) methodologies, such as machine learning and deep learning, to refine real-time bioprocess monitoring and predict performance metrics like yield and product quality. You will play a key role in constructing data extraction pipelines and automated processing workflows, which will feed into advanced analytical tools. By applying data-driven modeling principles, you'll help illuminate the intricacies of upstream and downstream bioprocessing unit operations. The insights gained will be visualized in dashboards to bolster fault detection, process understanding, robustness, and improvements. Collaborating closely with process experts and reporting to a senior team member, your work will contribute significantly to enhancing operational efficiency at the Solothurn site.
What You’ll Do:
- Build automated data extraction pipelines and data processing workflows using tools such as OSI PI, Statistica, and Python.
- Develop AI models from real-time bioprocess data to predict yield and critical quality attributes.
- Create novel data analytical tools and apply data-driven modeling principles in Python to describe bioprocessing unit operations.
- Build user-friendly applications and visualize model outputs to support process monitoring, trending, and performance evaluation.
- Conduct root cause analysis and propose process improvements based on data insights.
- Support process experts with data analysis requests, visualization, and reporting of results.
Who You Are:
You are curious and eager to explore the vast possibilities within data analytics and AI applications in biotechnology. Your enthusiasm for learning and applying innovative technologies drives your work, making you a valued collaborator in a team setting. You possess a keen eye for detail and are adept at translating complex data into actionable insights. Your proactive approach and ability to communicate effectively with team members empower you to contribute meaningfully to advancing process improvements.
Required Skills:
- BSc or MSc degree in Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Life Sciences, Computational Sciences, or a related discipline.
- Fundamentals of bioprocessing, ETL of large datasets, statistical data analytics, and programming in Python or related language.
- Experience in handling and visualizing large datasets.
- Proficiency in Python; experience with ML/DL libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn is an asset.
- Familiarity with statistical tools and process modeling concepts.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Process Analytical Technology (PAT).
- Strong mathematical and programming background, especially in modeling bioprocesses.
