Job Summary

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex engineering problems, designing scalable backend systems, and driving technical excellence. You will serve as a senior developer and trusted partner to the Engineering Manager, helping shape architecture, support production systems, mentor developers, and deliver high-quality solutions that directly impact patient care. The role is 100% hands on.

Essential Functions

• Design and implement scalable, maintainable backend services using Java and Spring.
• Lead the technical design of new features and architectural initiatives.
• Own complex technical challenges from investigation through production deployment.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Support, QA, and other engineering teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other developers through code reviews, design discussions, and best practices.
• Drive improvements in system reliability, performance, observability, and maintainability.
• Troubleshoot production issues and support critical customer escalations when needed.
• Champion engineering excellence through testing, automation, documentation, and continuous improvement.
• Participate in architectural planning and long-term technical roadmap discussions.

Required/Preferred Education and Experience

• B.Sc. in Computer Science or equivalent experience (8200, Mamram, Ofek)
• 5+ years of hands-on backend development experience
• Experience with Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Hibernate/JPA, and REST APIs.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, distributed systems, and backend design patterns.
• Experience designing scalable, highly available production systems.
• Strong SQL and database design skills.
• Experience working with cloud platforms (preferably AWS).
• Experience building automated tests (JUnit, integration tests, mocking frameworks).
• Passion for clean code, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
• Experience leading technical initiatives or serving as a Tech Lead. preferred
• Experience mentoring developers. preferred
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code. preferred
• Experience with monitoring and observability platforms. preferred
• Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging systems. preferred
• Experience integrating with third-party APIs and healthcare standards such as HL7/FHIR. preferred
• Experience developing HIPAA- and GDPR-compliant systems. preferred
• Experience working in regulated medical software environments. preferred
• Experience with DevOps practices and production operations. preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills across complex production environments.
• Ability to independently own features from design through production.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
