Bank of America’s Sports Finance & Advisory Group is seeking a Senior RM to join our team in Charlotte. This group is a specialized team within the Global Commercial Bank and serves public and private entities within the broad-based sports industry ecosystem.  The team brings its industry specialization, expertise and innovative solutions to support the financial needs of sports leagues, organizations and associations, teams, facilities such as stadiums and arenas, select sports-centric media entities, and other select content-based and related peripheral companies competing in and supporting the sports industry. The Sports Finance & Advisory Group’s mandate includes clients and prospects throughout the U.S. and internationally. In concert with dedicated teammates including Investment Banking, Capital Markets, Rates/FX, and Credit we provide integrated advisory and capital raising capabilities to achieve a full range of strategic objectives. Our comprehensive suite of innovative solutions includes acquisition financing, international banking and financing, and turnkey working capital products and services. Extensive travel is expected.  

 

The Senior RM will have a strong focus on new business development and will build and manage a portfolio of sports sector clients.  In addition to being the primary bank advocate and key financial advisor for the relationship, the Senior RM is accountable for new client acquisition and enhancing and deepening existing relationships. The Senior RM will have the ability to engage in dialogue with the key decision makers for sports leagues and entities including Team Owners, “C-Suite”, and senior leadership levels regarding the sports industry and a wide range of relevant banking and industry matters, including capital structure design and other strategic initiatives. The Senior RM will be responsible for developing strategic client plans for each client or prospect and for leading, directing and coordinating key team members and partners in the analysis and execution of the effective delivery of their respective solutions, products and services to clients and prospects. The Senior RM must be well versed in all Bank of America products and services or those of a similar nature from the banking sector for proper identification of client deepening opportunities and credible ongoing engagement in support and delivery of complex financial solutions including the structuring of credit and capital markets solutions. The Senior RM must be able to assess and analyze financial conditions of sports and sports-related entities including possessing a strong understanding of sports industry trends, business models, and governance aspects. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates ability to successfully manage an extensive portfolio of sports related clients
  • Acquires, deepens, and maintains profitable client relationships through delivering financial solutions, prospecting, and enhancing existing relationships
  • Understands and interprets financial and cash flow statements to assess and analyze financial conditions of companies and industry trends and valuation methodologies 
  • Collaborates with domestic and international teammates throughout the bank, including Investment Banking, Capital Markets, Foreign Exchange, and Wealth Management and facilitates client relationships with Product Specialists including Credit, Treasury Management, and Merchant Services in order to design and deliver financial solutions to clients and prospects
  • Leads and facilitates developing solutions and dialogue with clients and prospects on a variety of complex and nuanced matters including industry specific, general business issues, and a broad range of financial strategies
  • Developing knowledge and a deep understanding of industry issues in the highly specialized sports sector
  • Coaches and mentors peers, while utilizing leadership skills
  • Adapts to changes in banking and sales practices and broader market and industry conditions as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 10+ years of broad-based commercial lending/corporate finance experience in the sports industry is preferred
  • Demonstrates management of an extensive portfolio of clients operating within the sports industry and the ability to successfully manage a portfolio
  • Must be credit trained and proficient
  • Proven track record of prospecting new business and enhancing existing relationships
  • Professional proven sales skills and experience, including planning, execution and follow up of client meetings
  • Strong corporate finance, capital markets and accounting acumen
  • Financial modeling experience and the completion of formal credit training are required
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Capable of organizing, facilitating, leading and negotiating with a team of bank associates to deliver client solutions
  • Securities Industry Essentials (SIE), Series 7 &  63  (Must obtain SIE, series 7 & 63 license within 180 days of start date)
  • Heavy travel expected up to 50% and some weekend travel related to industry specific events. Travel flexibility high due to episodic, deal driven activity

 

 

Desired Skills:

 

  • Undergraduate degree in related field or equivalent work experience. MBA desirable.
  • Active member/participation in sports sector organizations and activities
  • Highly desirable to have active networking contacts and Centers of Influence established in the sector
  • Strong desire to work in the sports banking industry
