Senior Investigations Analyst (Acquiring Chargebacks)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Investigations Analyst (Acquiring Chargebacks) based in India.

This role sits at the center of a fast-evolving payments and financial crime environment, where precision and analytical depth directly protect customers and business revenue. You will be responsible for investigating complex acquiring chargebacks, identifying fraud patterns, and ensuring disputes are resolved in line with card scheme rules and regulatory requirements. The role demands strong ownership across the full dispute lifecycle, from case analysis to representments and escalations. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including Risk, Operations, Finance, and external payment partners. Beyond investigation work, you will also help shape controls, improve processes, and reduce fraud-related losses at scale. This is a high-impact position where your insights will directly influence operational resilience and customer trust in a dynamic fintech environment.

Accountabilities:

In this role, you will manage the end-to-end lifecycle of acquiring chargebacks, disputes, and fraud-related investigations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely resolution while minimizing financial exposure. You will analyze complex transaction patterns to detect indicators of friendly fraud, account takeover, and organized fraud activity, and translate findings into actionable outcomes.

  • Manage chargebacks, representments, pre-arbitrations, and arbitration cases across card schemes
  • Investigate disputed transactions and assess legitimacy using transaction data and merchant insights
  • Review, build, and submit evidence packages to support dispute outcomes and recover losses
  • Identify fraud trends and root causes to improve prevention and control mechanisms
  • Ensure compliance with Visa, Mastercard, and other card scheme rules and internal policies
  • Support reconciliation of dispute-related financial movements including fees and recoveries
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to resolve escalations and complex cases
  • Contribute to reporting, MIS, and insights to support decision-making and strategy
  • Drive process improvements, automation opportunities, and operational efficiency initiatives
  • Provide guidance to peers and act as a subject matter expert in dispute resolution practices
  • Requirements

    The ideal candidate brings strong experience in payments operations, chargebacks, or disputes, with a deep understanding of card scheme ecosystems and a proven ability to handle high-volume, high-complexity investigative work. You should be detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable working under strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

    • 3+ years of experience in chargebacks, acquiring disputes, or payments operations
    • Strong knowledge of end-to-end chargeback lifecycle and card scheme regulations
    • Hands-on experience with Visa, Mastercard, or similar payment network dispute processes
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret transaction and behavioral data
    • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
    • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across internal and external teams
    • Ability to work under pressure and make sound, evidence-based decisions
    • Experience in root cause analysis and fraud trend identification
    • Exposure to reconciliation, financial investigations, or reporting is a plus
    • Familiarity with merchant acquiring or payment processing environments preferred
    • Proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement and loss reduction
    • Willingness to work rotational shifts and handle customer or member interactions when required
