Air Force VP of Business Development

This senior leadership role is focused on driving strategic growth and opportunity capture within the Federal Civilian and defense-adjacent markets, with a strong emphasis on U.S. government agencies. You will be responsible for identifying, shaping, and advancing new business opportunities that align with long-term organizational objectives, while building trusted relationships with senior government stakeholders. The role requires a blend of strategic foresight, market intelligence, and hands-on business development execution across complex federal procurement environments. You will collaborate closely with capture, pricing, and technical teams to ensure opportunities are well-positioned for competitive success. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role that demands strong leadership, autonomy, and the ability to perform in fast-paced, mission-critical environments. The position is best suited for a commercially driven leader with deep federal market expertise and a strong track record of growth.

Accountabilities:

  • Identify, qualify, and shape new business opportunities within Federal Civilian and defense-aligned markets in support of strategic growth objectives.
  • Develop and maintain senior-level relationships across U.S. government agencies and key decision-makers.
  • Create and execute strategic account plans and call plans to expand market penetration and pipeline growth.
  • Conduct competitive intelligence and market analysis to inform business development strategies and positioning.
  • Lead and contribute to early-phase opportunity shaping, including responses to RFIs and other pre-capture activities.
  • Collaborate with capture, pricing, and solution teams to ensure opportunities are strategically aligned and competitively positioned.
  • Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and government forums to strengthen visibility and relationships.
  • Develop teaming strategies and identify partners to enhance competitive advantage in federal pursuits.
  • Provide leadership with regular pipeline updates, market insights, and strategic recommendations.
  • Requirements:

    • 7–10+ years of experience in business development, capture, or opportunity shaping within Federal Civilian, DoD, or Intelligence environments.
    • Strong understanding of federal procurement processes, government contracting, and competitive federal market dynamics.
    • Proven ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with senior government stakeholders.
    • Experience independently driving business development strategies and managing complex opportunity pipelines.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
    • Strong strategic thinking skills combined with hands-on execution capabilities in fast-moving environments.
    • Experience working with agencies such as DHS, DOJ, HHS, DOE, USDA, or GSA is highly preferred.
    • Familiarity with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) and federal market intelligence platforms is a plus.
    • Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
