The starting compensation range(s) for this role are listed above for a full-time employee (FTE) basis. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills, where the job is performed, the employee’s work schedule, job-related knowledge, and experience. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
Duties: Integrate data products from diverse source systems to ensure quality, performance and scalability using cloud platforms. Collaborate with business users to gather requirements and translate them into comprehensive mapping documents that can be implemented as data products. Define requirements for accessing and managing clinical, pre-clinical, and translational medicine databases. Design and implement effective incremental load strategies to facilitate efficient data processing. Conduct unit testing, quality assurance, and troubleshoot data quality issues to enhance data integrity across platforms. Provide support for enterprise data warehousing operations, ensuring seamless data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL). Work on integrating multiple data platforms and ensure standardized data processes. Engage with scientific teams to understand and support the integration of biospecimen data, patient annotation datasets, and results of preclinical and translational studies. Understand and implement Data Mesh strategies to align decentralized data ownership with business objectives. Telecommuting permitted up to 3 days per week. Up to 10% domestic travel may be required based on business need.
REQUIREMENTS: Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, or a related field, and five (5) years of progressive post-baccalaureate related work experience as a Data Scientist or related occupation.
Requires five (5) years of experience in the following skills (which may be gained concurrently): Migrating various types of clinical databases from on-premise to cloud-based data lakes and data warehouses;
- Working with clinical databases and tools such as LabMatrix, Informatica, Myriad, Informatica Big Data Management (BMD), Apache Hadoop, Hive, and Snowflake;
- Leveraging Amazon Web Services, including Glue, Lambda, Athena, Redshift, S3, and Data Zone to design and implement scalable data solutions;
- Developing Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes using AWS Glue, AWS Lambda, and Informatica PowerCenter to create serverless applications;
- Optimizing queries for data processing using SQL and NoSQL engines such as SQL server, Oracle, Postgres, and Impala;
- Integrating Apache Spark with AWS Athena for real-time data processing and analytics;
- Data visualization using Spotfire, Tableau, or Dotmatics; and
- Applying protocols and standards in biopharmaceutical research and development, including preclinical research, clinical trials, biologics data management, genetic biomarkers,
translational research, and non-clinical (In Vivo) data management.

Based on eligibility*, additional time off for employees may include unlimited paid sick time, up to 2 paid volunteer days per year, summer hours flexibility, leaves of absence for medical, personal, parental, caregiver, bereavement, and military needs and an annual Global Shutdown between Christmas and New Years Day.
All global employees full and part-time who are actively employed at and paid directly by BMS at the end of the calendar year are eligible to take advantage of the Global Shutdown.

BMS has an occupancy structure that determines where an employee is required to conduct their work. This structure includes site-essential, site-by-design, field-based and remote-by-design jobs. The occupancy type that you are assigned is determined by the nature and responsibilities of your role:
Site-essential roles require 100% of shifts onsite at your assigned facility. Site-by-design roles may be eligible for a hybrid work model with at least 50% onsite at your assigned facility. For these roles, onsite presence is considered an essential job function and is critical to collaboration, innovation, productivity, and a positive Company culture. For field-based and remote-by-design roles the ability to physically travel to visit customers, patients or business partners and to attend meetings on behalf of BMS as directed is an essential job function.
