Job Description

The Data Engineer designs, develops, and operates cloud-based data and analytics platforms and pipelines on GCP that acquire, cleanse, transform, and publish data from a wide variety of sources. The role supports the Data Management & Platform Accelerator horizontal, which delivers data engineering services to 7 IT-Media service lines, and contributes across data quality, our enterprise data lake, cross-cloud data sharing between GCP and Azure Databricks, self-serve project provisioning, reusable templates, and cloud cost optimization.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional and non-functional business requirements.

• Partner with data asset managers, architects, and development leads to ensure technical solutions are fit for use and aligned with architecture blueprints.

• Build and operate GCP data pipelines (BigQuery, Cloud Composer, Dataplex) and contribute to the evolution of the enterprise data lake toward open table formats and self-serve data sharing.

• Operate and extend our data quality tooling (Anomalo) across all service lines, including embedding quality checks into CI/CD.

• Maintain and improve cross-cloud data sharing between GCP and Azure Databricks, including Lakehouse Federation and modern open-format alternatives.

• Develop reusable Terraform templates and contribute to self-serve project provisioning and policy guardrails.

• Identify, design, and implement cost-reduction and process-improvement opportunities.

• Contribute to and uphold coding standards and best practices to ensure services and components are efficient and reusable.

Certifications

Azure Associate Data Engineer (DP-203), Databricks Professional Data Engineer, Apache Spark Developer Associate, Professional Data Engineer – Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.

  • Experience in data engineering, data science, or related field.

  • Proficiency with data architecture and data processing tools.

  • Must-have: Working knowledge of Azure Databricks and Unity Catalog.

  • Nice-to-have: Hands-on experience with GCP (BigQuery, Composer, Dataplex, IAM) and Terraform

  • Strong Python and SQL skills.

  • Experience integrating data quality tooling into CI/CD pipelines.
