Senior Data Engineer
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Data Engineer based in Brazil.
This role sits at the core of a data-driven organization, focused on building and maintaining scalable, reliable, and analytics-ready data systems that support critical decision-making. You will design and operate robust data pipelines, ensuring high data quality, performance, and accessibility for analytics and business stakeholders. The position involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into well-structured data solutions. You will work in a modern cloud-based environment, contributing to the evolution of data architecture, tooling, and engineering standards. This is a hands-on technical role that requires strong ownership of production systems and the ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-moving environments. It is ideal for a data engineer who is passionate about building trustworthy data platforms that empower analytics and business intelligence at scale.
Accountabilities:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable production-grade data pipelines using Python and modern data engineering practices.
- Develop and optimize batch ELT workflows, ensuring reliability, performance, and data accuracy across systems.
- Integrate and process data from external APIs and multiple structured/unstructured sources.
- Build and maintain data models using advanced SQL to support analytics, reporting, and business intelligence use cases.
- Work with orchestration tools such as Airflow to schedule, monitor, and manage data workflows.
- Collaborate closely with analytics teams using transformation tools such as dbt or similar frameworks.
- Ensure production system reliability through monitoring, debugging, incident response, and root-cause analysis.
- Contribute to data architecture decisions, documentation, and engineering best practices across the team.
- 4+ years of experience in data engineering or closely related technical roles.
- Strong hands-on experience building and maintaining production data pipelines using Python.
- Advanced SQL skills and experience with data modeling for analytics use cases.
- Experience working with data orchestration tools such as Airflow.
- Familiarity with dbt or similar transformation frameworks and collaboration with analytics teams.
- Experience integrating external APIs and working with cloud environments (e.g., GCP or equivalent).
- Strong ownership mindset with experience supporting production systems, including monitoring and incident resolution.
- Familiarity with CI/CD practices and version control systems such as GitHub.
- Ability to work effectively in ambiguous environments and make pragmatic technical decisions.
- Nice to have: experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform), data quality tooling, or BI/analytics workflows.
- Remote-first role across Latin America with alignment to EST working hours.
