This senior-level role sits at the heart of a large-scale data modernization initiative within the justice domain. You will be responsible for shaping and delivering a unified enterprise data warehouse that replaces multiple legacy reporting data marts. The work involves transforming fragmented court data systems into a cohesive, scalable, and governed architecture that supports advanced analytics and reporting. You will collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to define data models, ensure data quality, and enable more efficient access to justice information. The environment is complex and highly regulated, requiring strong architectural discipline and attention to security and compliance. This is a hands-on role combining strategy, design, and implementation within a cloud-enabled data ecosystem. You will also contribute to improving enterprise-wide data practices and long-term architecture evolution.
Accountabilities:
In this role, you will lead the design and implementation of enterprise data architecture solutions while supporting the modernization of legacy reporting systems into an integrated data warehouse environment.
- Review and analyze existing data marts and conduct detailed data profiling across multiple justice datasets
- Define data models, design specifications, and mapping documents for facts and dimensions
- Develop and support ETL processes, staging layers, and data integration pipelines
- Support testing and validation of data models, including quality assurance for facts and dimensions
- Build and assist with reporting validation (including Power BI outputs) for analytical use cases
- Maintain and evolve data architecture standards, principles, and governance practices
- Contribute to enterprise architecture alignment, ensuring consistency with organizational data strategies
- Provide architectural guidance, documentation, and consultation to project teams and stakeholders
- Participate in design reviews and ensure adherence to data governance and integration standards
- Support transition planning from legacy data structures to target-state architecture
Requirements:
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in enterprise data architecture and data engineering within complex environments, ideally involving large-scale system modernization.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in software or data architecture roles within enterprise environments
- Proven experience designing scalable data solutions, including data warehouses and integration frameworks
- Strong background in data modeling, schema design, and relational/non-relational databases
- Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT development and data pipeline design
- Experience with cloud or hybrid environments, including containerization and infrastructure-as-code practices
- Familiarity with API design, RESTful services, and system integration patterns
- Experience implementing secure architecture practices, including identity/access management and Zero Trust principles
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment workflows
- Experience modernizing legacy systems into cloud-ready or modern digital architectures
- Understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks and public sector or regulated environments (an asset)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into business value
- Experience working with UX, service design, or human-centered design teams is considered an advantage
