Position Summary
As the Creative Director dedicated to the Yahoo Search and Mail brands, you will define the overarching creative vision and drive the marketing strategies that elevate these essential products within our shared services model. Reporting to the Head of Marketing Studio, you will act as a strategic individual contributor, partnering closely with product and marketing leadership to move from planning to high-impact execution.
You are a player-coach: a high-level strategic thinker with exceptional creative taste who remains a hands-on designer and storyteller when the work demands it. You will lead by influence, ensuring that our creative output—both visual and verbal—is fresh, on-brand, and highly optimized through modern, AI-augmented workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Creative Vision & Architecture: Define and drive the multi-year creative strategy and visual systems for Yahoo Search and Yahoo Mail, establishing scalable creative frameworks that align campaign execution with long-term brand objectives.
Campaign Orchestration & Delivery: Oversee the visual and conceptual direction of high-impact, multi-channel campaigns across digital display, social media, video storytelling, and interactive experiences, maintaining the ultimate backstop for creative quality.
Cross-Functional & Strategic Partnering: Partner closely with Product Marketing, Product Design, and Engineering to craft actionable, strategic creative briefs. Represent design and branding at the highest strategic levels to build cross-functional consensus.
Intelligent Campaign Optimization: Drive campaign pipeline efficiency by utilizing Asana AI to automate administrative workflows, orchestrate squad tasks, and streamline review handoffs.
Mentorship & Practice Leadership: Multiply the capability of the design organization by mentoring and empowering senior designers (IC4/IC5), raising the bar for craftsmanship, professional maturity, and creative output.
Responsible Innovation: Stay at the forefront of emerging technologies and industry shifts, formulating ethical guidelines for how the creative team leverages AI platforms to maintain brand integrity and avoid market redundancy.
Qualifications
10+ years of creative leadership experience in digital media, advertising, or consumer tech, with a proven history of shaping high-level brand visions.
A portfolio showing exceptional visual taste, multi-channel campaign leadership, and master-level execution across video, digital, and upper-funnel brand initiatives.
Deep experience establishing strategic design and storytelling systems for complex consumer tech products (ideally communication or utility tools).
Demonstrated ability to validate, refine, and provide creative governance over AI-generated outputs, ensuring high standards of brand-safety, originality, and visual polish.
Proven experience driving cross-team alignment on complex projects, negotiating through conflicting stakeholder feedback to establish clear creative pathways.
Skilled in modern design and collaboration environments (Figma, Adobe Creative Suite).
Exceptional communication and narrative skills, with the ability to articulate deep strategic rationale behind creative choices to senior business leaders.
Bachelor’s degree in Design, Fine Arts, Advertising, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

The compensation for this position ranges from $129,210.00 - $281,305.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
