Trainee MFG
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: active student in final semesters of a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Mechatronics, Industrial, Electrical, or related).
- Experience:
- Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Ford Production System (FPS) concepts.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues to identify root causes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of interacting effectively with both hourly operators and salaried leadership.
- Self-starter attitude with high initiative to take ownership of assigned projects with limited supervision.
- Intermediate to Advanced English level (written and spoken).
Position Duties:
- Support FTPM (Ford Total Productive Maintenance) and FPS (Ford Production System) initiatives within the machining department.
- Assist Machining and Maintenance Engineers in the optimization of current production processes (CNC machining, tooling, washing, and assembly).
- Participate actively in problem-solving activities (using 5Whys, Fishbone, and Is/Is Not analysis) focused on equipment reliability, cycle times, and quality issues.
- Monitor, track, and analyze key manufacturing and maintenance metrics (JPH, OEE, MTBF, MTTR, Scrap, and Tooling Costs).
- Collaborate in the development and update of Standardized Work Sheets (SWS), Job Instruction Sheets (JIS), and safety protocols for machining stations.
- Assist in the management of tooling life cycles, including testing new cutting tools and documenting performance trials.
- Support the implementation of continuous improvement (Kaizen) ideas and cost-reduction projects within the production lines.
- Work with Ford corporate systems such as MAXIMO, QLSCM, CORA, and POSMON to track work orders, equipment history, and performance data.
- Assist in the coordination of maintenance planning and shutdown activities for the machining area.
- Support Simultaneous Engineering and Forward Planning teams during new model launches, equipment installations, or line re-layouts.
- Help document breakdown root causes in R&M (Reliability & Maintainability) reports and follow up on corrective actions.
- Act as a bridge of communication between the engineering team, Team Leaders, and hourly operators to drive projects forward.
Preferred Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience:
- Previous internship or co-op experience in an automotive or high-volume manufacturing environment (machining or powertrain experience is a strong plus).
- Basic knowledge of CNC programming (G & M codes), cutting tool geometry, and machining parameters.
- Familiarity with PLC logic, automation, or robotics (Fanuc, ABB).
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and advanced Microsoft Excel for data analysis.
- Basic knowledge of industrial safety standards (LOTO, ergonomics).
