The Cloud Application Architect will architect the modernization of enterprise-class software applications. They will work in coordination with Agile development teams and other stakeholders to architect, design, build, migrate, expand, automate, and sustain a large, multi-tenant cloud platform/enterprise. The Cloud Application Architect will leverage their experience in cloud software architecture to design and direct the development of this exciting new solution.

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT
As a Cloud Application Architect, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of our federal customers. You will play a crucial role via the following:

  • Designs, architects, deploys, and maintains cloud solutions
  • Maintains the integrity and security of systems
  • Supports and develops automation
  • Develops in languages such as Bash, Python, Node.js, and React.js
  • Maintains/enhances knowledge of AWS cloud services (microservices)
  • Collaborate with teams of UI/UX designers, cloud engineers, architects, and DevOps teams deploying and operating workloads using AWS services (such as, but not limited to: Lambda, EC2, S3, CloudWatch, API Gateway, VPC, IAM)
  • Composes and maintains standard operating procedures and work instructions, knowledge articles, et al.


WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
Bring your engineering expertise along with a drive for innovation to GDIT. The Cloud Application Architect must have:
 

Education:

  • Training, Certificate, or Degree required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Programming, Computer Engineering or relevant experience preferred
     

Experience: 10+ years of related experience with AWS cloud computing
 

Required Skills:

  • Development experience in the following languages: JavaScript/TypeScript, Bash, Python, Node.js, and React.js
  • Experience building and maintaining React.js front-end applications
  • Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) utilizing one of the following: Terraform and/or CloudFormation
  • Understanding of RESTful APIs and event-driven architecture
  • Designed and implemented Lambda services / microservices in a multi-tenant environment
  • Designed and implemented CI/CD tools (such as, but not limited to, GitLab)
  • Expert knowledge of Linux OS (must at least have exposure to kernel-level operations)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (including UI/UX designers, product managers, and other developers) to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Experience with application using serverless architecture and/or containerization
  • Extensive SDLC experience
  • Excellent communication skills with demonstrated experience delivering presentations to diverse audiences at various levels of an organization
  • Prior experience as a Team Lead and/or Manager

Required Certification:

  • Must possess AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate -or- Professional

Security Clearance Level: Must be able to pass a background check to obtain a position of Public Trust.

The likely salary range for this position is $195,240 - $264,148. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.

GDIT typically provides new employees with 15 days of paid leave per calendar year to be used for vacations, personal business, and illness and an additional 10 paid holidays per year. Paid leave and paid holidays are prorated based on the employee’s date of hire. The GDIT Paid Family Leave program provides a total of up to 160 hours of paid leave in a rolling 12 month period for eligible employees.
