Research Engineer, Ads AI

As a key member of the Ads AI team within Search Ads Quality, you will design and implement AI innovations that directly improve core Search Ads products. Our work has consistently led to high-impact launches and research published at leading global conferences. You will operate at the intersection of AI research and large-scale product application, enjoying the agility of a start-up environment backed by Google's resources.
Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
US: $174000 - $253000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + bonus + equity + benefits

Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
- 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
- 2 years of experience with ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, optimization, data processing, debugging).
- 2 years of experience with generative AI techniques (e.g., LLMs, RL/SFT on models, Agentic AI, Multi-Modal, etc.) or concepts (language modeling, computer vision).
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, or related technical fields.
- 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
- 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
- Experience in statistical modeling, ML or mathematical modeling in industry or in academia.
- Experience in ads.
