Job Purpose
The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for working with all factories that produce for the domestic/export
market to resolve market concerns. Support and evaluate the factory recommended countermeasure and provide
repair information to the field to repair customer vehicles.
Identify countermeasure software and assess the need for market deployment. Provide expertise in PST Market Quality Engineering to identify challenges and barriers to create prompt, high quality diagnosis and repairs performed by the Dealer's Automotive Technicians.
The Senior Quality Engineer is also responsible for tracking and monitoring post bulletin repair effectiveness by reviewing data and going to the spot. Provide technical/dealership expertise to support current and improve future products to exceed customer's expectations, promote fixed first visit, ensure a positive ownership experience, and promote lifetime owner loyalty.
Key Accountabilities
- Evaluate proposed countermeasure to determine the appropriate repair for the market.
- Develop repair instructions for the market (including Export/CCA (Caribbean and
Central America) and conduct time study evaluations with the shop. Provide source
materials to publications (Service News/Service Bulletins, Video etc). Advise
appropriate market action - Review the SMC (Software Management Console) and work with the NA Data
- Analytics, NA QIS coordination group and/or Factory to determine if software release is
required. Create/validate software packages for OTA (Over-The-Air) and or wired ECU
Reprogramming updates within SMC and SEM (Service Engineering Memo) to
publications (OTA Release Notes, Service Bulletin, etc.) - Support Tech Lead on dealer visits to observe and confirm repairs first-hand noting
and making any modifications needed to ensure clarity of the written communications - Monitor post bulletin repair accuracy and or OTA/Wired Reprogramming post-delivery
status. Assist with identification and understand the root cause, then act where
needed. Promote Service-Related QIS when needed - Provide technical expertise to several groups outside of MQE (Market Quality
Engineering) including Campaigns, ACS (Automobile Customer Service), PRO
(Product Regulatory Office), HNA (Honda North America) Law, Product
Development, Warranty, Publications, DPSM's (District Parts and Service
Manager's), FTS's (Field Technical Specialist's), SPPC (Service Parts Procurement
Center), Tech Line - Support efforts between factory MQ (Market Quality), ADC (Automobile Design Center),
NAQC (North American Quality Center), TSD (Technical Service Division), and TAC
(Technical Analysis Center) associates. Work with Tech Line on Export/CCA (Caribbean and Central America) market issues
including eTAR (Electronic Technical Assistance Request) - Support activities related to FMC (Full Model Change), support Service University
- Create PDI Bulletin, NAVI PDI Bulletin
- Review PDI Checklist, Maintenance Journal, Owner’s Manual (New/FMC only,
Personalized Settings Worksheet
Create and deliver presentations for market concern items for monthly management
review - Support Tech Lead in Special/Advanced Service Projects (KOQ, OTA, Prognosis,
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (or related major) and/or work experience
- Minimum Experience six plus years or work experience plus 1 year of experience working within an
automobile manufacturer's service/engineering department - Vehicle evaluation skills with strong emphasis on automotive system
knowledge - Strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint)
