An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Junior Engineer with circa 2 years’ experience within our Surface Water Engineering team in Brisbane. We’re looking for a like-minded individual who enjoys working with an enthusiastic, committed, and fun-loving team, is a good listener, and enjoys solving issues for clients while developing their career. Reporting to the Team Lead in Brisbane, you will be working very closely with the multidisciplinary consultants within our Brisbane office as well as the rest of the Hydrology & Hydrogeology consultants across APAC to deliver services to our clients across both Queensland and wider Australia.
Responsibilities
This role will provide you with the opportunity to work alongside industry leaders across the region and provide you with the support on your technical growth within the wider SLR team.
The role would suit someone who is just as comfortable in the field collecting data, as they are in our modern riverside Eagle Street CBD office collaborating with 150+ industry leading environmental scientists and engineers. The role provides the opportunity to be remunerated for work away from home through time in lieu and/or overtime pay.
As a self-starter, you develop your career assisting with project management, tenders/proposals preparation, on site and in fieldwork programs, data analysis and interpretation, and reporting.

Experience
As part of a growing team in SLR, you will be responsible for carrying out surface water technical work to service a broad range of industries and clients as a Surface Water Engineer in Brisbane. A relevant qualification in Engineering, Environmental Science or a related environment discipline is essential, along with the following skills:
A degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
The ability to analyse and interpret complex situations/problems and develop appropriate solutions in an effective and efficient manner
Exposure or strong interest in Surface Water projects, particularly flooding, hydrology, hydraulics, water balance and water management
Exposure and experience with relevant modelling tools such as WBNM, RORB, URBS, TUFLOW, GOLDSIM, MUSIC, etc.
Experience in Geospatial data analysis and manipulation using industry standard software e.g. QGIS, AutoCAD.
Experience in data processing and analysis, including proficiency in excel. Skills in coding languages such as Python, R or Visual Basic will be highly regarded.
The role will be predominately office based although opportunities exist for fieldwork for interested candidates
