The Corewell Health West, Grand Rapids Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer organizes, directs, evaluates and integrates the delivery of patient care and clinical services, reporting directly to the SVP, Hospital Operations and CNO, CHW. In collaboration with the system leadership, the CNO has authority and accountability for delivery of services by assigned departments in alignment with our mission, vision and values. Through collaboration with clinical, system and physician leadership strive for seamlessness and efficiency in delivering care. Ensures that services and programs achieve quality, safety, and experience standards and demonstrates the development of a culture of continuous process improvement. Key activities include best practice delivery, program planning, operational analysis, financial analysis, problem resolution, change management, and process improvement. Role models exceptional leadership and holds others within the leadership team accountable to do the same. Serves as the lead for CHW Grand Rapids nursing practice and collaborates with other CNOs.
Essential Functions
Supports and executes the operational plan for the provision of patient care services congruent with Corewell Health’s mission, vision, and values, best clinical practice standards, fiscal responsibility to the consumer and meeting regulatory requirements.
Fosters a culture where employees feel known, included and empowered. Provides direction and support to leaders and employees to ensure effectiveness and efficiency. Demonstrates competence in leading change and effective communication. Engages and empowers leaders by identifying and communicating clear performance expectations and providing performance feedback.
In collaboration with the other nurse leaders across the organization, promotes staff development through orientation, training and continuing education programs and services that support an environment of professional/personal growth and development throughout employment.
Actively represents Corewell Health in the community. Develops and maintains excellent community relationships and engages in community affairs/events/groups. Establishes effective working relationships, addresses concerns, and promotes a positive image of CH.
Ensures operating compliance with all quality and risk requirements. Ensures the consistent delivery of quality and nursing/clinical services and practice through development, revision, implementation and interpretation of organization wide patient care policies, procedures, protocols, standards of nursing practice, and plan for the provision of patient care.
Active participant in strategic planning and service development for Corewell Health West Grand Rapids. Engages to develop core strategies, initiatives, and alignment with the organizational priorities to support Corewell Health’s mission, vision, and values.
Collaborates and supports the systems designed to recruit, select and retain qualified care providers, to measure practice standards, and to establish and monitor standard of care.
Identifies and evaluates trends in healthcare, local condition, economic condition and collaborative institutions and shares this information with hospital leaders and the Chief Nurse Executive.
Qualifications
Required Master's Degree in Nursing. If Master’s degree is not in Nursing, must possess a BSN with a Master’s in related field.
10 years of relevant experience leadership experience. Required
Registered Nurse (RN) - State of Michigan. Required
