Sr. Engineering Manager
The Sr. Engineering Manager (SEM) leads a team of full-stack engineers to build innovative, scalable, and high-impact technology solutions. This role combines technical leadership, product ownership, and people management, with accountability across the full software lifecycle—from design and development to deployment and production operations.
You will drive product outcomes, including business KPIs, Net Promoter Score (NPS) and user satisfaction, while shaping the product roadmap and delivering intelligent, high-quality software. As the technical and strategic representative of your team, you’ll collaborate across functions, influence decisions, and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture and business goals.
Success in this role requires strong problem-solving, technical depth, clear communication, and a proactive, ownership-driven mindset.
What You’ll Do
Lead and develop a high-performing team of full-stack engineers, providing coaching, mentorship, and career development
Drive end-to-end product development, including architecture, coding, deployment, and production support
Own and influence product roadmap, prioritization, and delivery in partnership with stakeholders
Ensure high-quality, scalable, and secure software aligned with Target’s enterprise architecture
Actively contribute to code and technical design, maintaining a hands-on engineering presence
Define infrastructure strategy, including cloud adoption and enterprise platform utilization
Identify and resolve technical roadblocks across code, infrastructure, build, and deployment pipelines
Champion Agile and DevOps practices, including CI/CD and incremental value delivery
Collaborate cross-functionally and represent the team in enterprise-level planning and initiatives
Establish strong stakeholder communication and influence product and technology decisions
About You
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
7+ years of software engineering experience
1–3 years of engineering management experience, with a strong track record of delivering cross-functional products in production
Proficiency in two or more general-purpose programming languages
Experience with microservices, event-driven architectures, system integration, and large-scale production systems (required)
Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and problem-solving
Experience with at least one public cloud platform (required)
Experience in data engineering or big data ecosystems (preferred)
Exposure to retail or supply chain domains (preferred)
Ability to operate as both an engineering leader and product thinker
Familiarity with product development practices, roadmap planning, OKRs, and stakeholder management (preferred)
Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences
Passion for team development and building inclusive, high-performing engineering cultures
Proven experience working in large enterprise environments leading complex technology initiatives
Deep understanding of Agile methodologies, CI/CD, and iterative delivery models
