R&D Internship – Developer Technology

Overview

Join us at the Esri R&D Center Barcelona and work on the ArcGIS Maps SDKs for Native Apps and Game Engines. Our team develops technology that helps developers build high-quality geospatial applications for mobile, desktop, and immersive real-time 3D experiences, including AR and VR.

As part of Esri’s Developer Technology group, we empower developers to bring ArcGIS capabilities into the applications they create. This work supports Esri’s broader mission to help organizations use location intelligence to better understand the world and solve real-world problems.

As an intern, you will learn by doing, working closely with our team, contributing to meaningful engineering tasks, and growing in an environment that values quality, collaboration, and impact.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with our development teams supporting the Maps SDKs for Unreal Engine and Unity
  • Build prototypes
  • Create developer-facing samples
  • Evaluate technologies and approaches that inform real product decisions
  • Collaborate with engineers, share your findings, and contribute to a culture of high-quality developer technology

Requirements

  • 2+ years of university or previous internship experience programming with C++
  • Understanding of 3D graphics and real-time rendering concepts, including coordinate systems, transformations, and lighting/shading basics
  • Understanding of core software performance concepts - you know how to design, code, and maintain software that runs quickly, efficiently, and uses minimal hardware and server resources
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Final-year undergraduate or graduate student in computer science, software engineering, mathematics, GIS, or related field
  • Existing work authorization for Spain

Recommended Qualifications

  • Experience with C#
  • Familiarity with Esri's ArcGIS product suite
