Staff Systems Engineer- Infrastructure (Employer of Record)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Systems Engineer- Infrastructure (Employer of Record) based in India.

This role is a senior individual contributor position focused on designing, building, and scaling enterprise-grade infrastructure platforms across compute, storage, virtualization, and containerized environments. You will work as part of a globally distributed engineering organization, collaborating closely with cloud, security, network, and application teams to deliver resilient and cost-efficient systems. The role is highly hands-on and centered around Infrastructure as Code, automation, and software-driven infrastructure engineering. You will be responsible for solving complex, cross-domain infrastructure challenges while reducing operational toil and improving system reliability. This position also emphasizes innovation in infrastructure operations, including the adoption of AI-assisted and agent-based workflows. It is a high-impact role suited for engineers who enjoy deep technical ownership and building scalable platforms in modern hybrid environments.

Accountabilities:

  • Provide technical leadership across compute, storage, networking, Linux, Windows, and Kubernetes environments, ensuring systems are secure, scalable, and highly available.
  • Design and implement enterprise-grade infrastructure solutions with a strong focus on automation, reliability, performance, and cost optimization.
  • Drive Infrastructure as Code (IaC) adoption using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Python, PowerShell, and Git-based workflows.
  • Lead infrastructure modernization efforts by identifying systemic issues and reducing manual operational effort through automation and platform improvements.
  • Partner with cloud, security, and application teams to design hybrid infrastructure solutions across data center and cloud environments.
  • Lead incident response, root cause analysis, disaster recovery planning, and continuous improvement initiatives for platform stability.
  • Define engineering standards, reference architectures, and best practices while mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction.
  • Explore and adopt AI-enabled and agent-based automation techniques to improve infrastructure operations and delivery efficiency.
  • Requirements:

    • 10+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering with deep expertise in compute, virtualization, and storage platforms.
    • Strong experience in enterprise virtualization environments (e.g., VMware or equivalent) including clustering, performance tuning, and lifecycle management.
    • Hands-on expertise in storage systems including block, file, NAS, and object storage (including S3-compatible architectures).
    • Experience with enterprise data protection and storage platforms such as Pure Storage, Cohesity, Qumulo, or similar solutions.
    • Strong knowledge of Linux and Windows Server administration in large-scale production environments.
    • Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation using Terraform, Ansible, Python, PowerShell, or similar tools.
    • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals across compute, storage, and hybrid infrastructure environments.
    • Experience working in hybrid or multi-environment infrastructure setups, including cloud integration.
    • Strong troubleshooting skills with experience resolving complex production incidents across multiple infrastructure layers.
    • Experience participating in on-call rotations and leading critical incident response efforts.
