DIS-TRAN Steel is seeking a Training Technician to support employee development and workforce training within our fabrication operations. This role is responsible for training and mentoring employees on welding, fitting, fabrication processes, quality standards, and shop procedures while helping ensure employees are set up for long-term success.
The ideal candidate is an experienced welder and/or fitter with strong technical knowledge, leadership ability, and a passion for developing others in a manufacturing environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Training & Development
- Train new employees on standard operating procedures, fit-up requirements, welding requirements, and fabrication processes
- Provide refresher and skills-development training for current employees
- Evaluate employee and applicant skill levels through hands-on assessments and weld testing
- Identify skill gaps and help develop training plans to improve employee performance and capabilities
- Apply adult learning techniques to support employee development and retention
- Interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and shop drawings to support training efforts
- Demonstrate proper welding and fitting techniques in accordance with company standards
- Assist with administering weld tests and practical evaluations
- Coordinate visual and/or NDT inspections with the Quality Control department as needed
- Support a safe, quality-focused work environment by reinforcing company standards and expectations
- Maintain detailed and accurate training records and qualification documentation
- Communicate effectively with employees, supervisors, Quality Control personnel, and leadership teams
- Monitor training effectiveness and recommend process improvements when needed
