IT Manager

Demiurgestudios · Boston, MA

We're hiring an IT Manager to own our studio's infrastructure end to end: keeping it healthy today and rebuilding it for what's next. This is a hands-on leadership role - you'll keep our systems running, our people supported, and our documentation current. In addition, you will also be driving meaningful infrastructure projects such as migrating our systems to co-location and cloud, as well as modernization of our identity stack. You'll work closely with our existing IT staff and external vendors, and report directly to the COO. We're looking for someone energized by bringing structure and rigor to an environment with real technical depth and some inherited technical debt.

Demiurge Studios is a game development studio that partners with top-tier publishers including Riot Games, Second Dinner, and Epic Games on co-development projects, as well as full-game development. Our infrastructure reflects the demands of professional game development: Perforce version control, multi-platform console dev kits, Windows CID infrastructure, and the security obligations that come with working alongside major studio partners. We also collaborate with outsourced teams in different parts of the world.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and support our end-user compute environment (Windows/Mac, ~100 remote seats), including MDM, hardware procurement, asset tracking, and lifecycle management
  • Administer Perforce, including depot management, user permissions, and performance for a distributed team
  • Maintain and support game development infrastructure: Linux perforce servers, Windows build machines, and multi-platform console dev kits
  • Plan and execute the migration of on-premises infrastructure to a colocation facility and/or cloud, including domain controllers, Perforce, storage, and network equipment
  • Own backup and disaster recovery strategy, including backup administration, testing, and restoration procedures
  • Manage and modernize our identity and access stack (Active Directory, Google Workspace), including onboarding/offboarding workflows for employees, contractors, and outsourced teams in other countries
  • Maintain and rationalize endpoint security tooling, making clear consolidation recommendations where redundancy exists
  • Support partner security audit and compliance requirements tied to our co-development relationships
  • Own IT documentation: system inventory, admin ownership, renewal calendar, runbooks, and access controls
  • Manage vendor and MSP relationships, including renewal tracking and procurement across our software portfolio
  • Oversee network infrastructure, including firewall configuration and monitoring in partnership with external support
  • Qualifications

  • 5+ years in IT administration or systems administration, with at least 2 years in a lead capacity
  • Hands-on Perforce administration experience
  • Fluency with Windows and macOS endpoint management (MDM, remote support, imaging)
  • Experience administering Active Directory and/or cloud identity platforms (Entra ID, Google Workspace), including access lifecycle management
  • Strong working knowledge of networking fundamentals, VPNs, firewalls, and endpoint security tooling
  • Experience administering Linux servers
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain IT documentation from the ground up
  • Experience managing access for distributed or contractor workforces across multiple geographies
  • Preference for Candidates With

  • Experience in a game studio or creative/media production environment
  • Experience with infrastructure migrations (office to colo or on-prem to cloud)
  • Experience maintaining CID infrastructure (Jenkins)
  • Familiarity with console development hardware and platform holder security requirements
  • Prior exposure to partner or client security audits (SOC 2, ISO 27001, or publisher-specific)
  • Experience managing or evaluating MSP relationships
