Senior Collaboration and Productivity Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Collaboration and Productivity Engineer based in the United States.

This role sits at the intersection of enterprise collaboration, cloud productivity, and modern workplace engineering, with a strong focus on designing and optimizing Microsoft 365 ecosystems at scale. You will act as a senior technical owner for collaboration platforms that enable secure communication, knowledge sharing, and productivity across the organization. The position combines deep hands-on engineering with architectural thinking, automation, and platform reliability leadership. You will work across infrastructure, security, and business teams to translate organizational needs into scalable M365 solutions. A key part of the role involves improving user experience, strengthening security posture, and driving adoption of emerging AI-enabled productivity tools. This is a highly impactful engineering role with both technical depth and mentorship responsibility in a fast-evolving digital workplace environment.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead the design, configuration, and ongoing optimization of Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, and Intune.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for M365 platforms, providing advanced troubleshooting, escalation support, and root-cause resolution for complex incidents.
  • Manage and enhance hybrid identity infrastructure including Azure Active Directory, Azure AD Connect, and related authentication services.
  • Develop automation solutions using PowerShell and Power Platform tools to improve efficiency, consistency, and operational scalability.
  • Monitor and ensure the health, performance, and availability of collaboration services, proactively identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Partner with infrastructure, service desk, and business teams to deliver seamless end-user collaboration and productivity experiences.
  • Design and maintain documentation, operational runbooks, and governance standards for Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Support incident management, disaster recovery exercises, and after-hours support for critical system events.
  • Evaluate and implement new Microsoft 365 and AI productivity capabilities, including Copilot and related collaboration tools.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
  • Requirements

    • 5+ years of IT experience with at least 4+ years focused on Microsoft 365 administration and engineering.
    • Strong expertise across Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Intune, and compliance/security tools.
    • Advanced PowerShell scripting skills for automation and platform management.
    • Experience working in hybrid identity environments integrating on-prem Active Directory with Azure AD.
    • Solid understanding of Microsoft security frameworks including MFA, conditional access, and threat protection.
    • Knowledge of Windows infrastructure fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, GPOs, certificates).
    • Experience supporting or evaluating AI productivity tools such as Microsoft Copilot and enterprise AI assistants.
    • Familiarity with Power Platform, ServiceNow, and enterprise collaboration tools is highly desirable.
    • Ability to operate in 24/7 on-call environments and support critical incidents as needed.
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders in a complex environment.
