Platform Engineering Consultant

The Red Hat Technology Services team is looking for a Platform Engineering Consultant to join us in Spain, preferably in Madrid. In this role, you will perform on-site delivery and implementation of modern Red Hat technology, and you will work as a subject matter expert in Red Hat’s AppDev, infrastructure and cloud technology.

You will focus on delivering quality work resulting in a positive customer experience, while building broad and deep technical expertise in Red Hat technologies. You'll gain understanding of our customers’ infrastructures and business needs and make recommendations appropriate to their environment to create possibilities and resolve issues. As a Platform Engineering Consultant, you will work closely with customers to gain an understanding of our customers' infrastructure with a particular focus on Red Hat OpenShift, Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform and Virtualization and business needs and make recommendations appropriate to their environment. You will also support other consultants, associates, and partners in developing best practices and methods, mainly based on OpenShift and related technologies.

What you will do:

  • Implement automated, containerized cloud application platforms with a focus on application and infrastructure concerns, including networking, storage, virtualization, security, logging, monitoring, high availability, and system resilience.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert at the customer site, addressing technical, development, or strategic IT requirements 

  • Manage problem identification, system architecture definition, software specification and design, implementation, testing, customer training, and deployment of enterprise-grade open source solutions

  • Deliver quality results both on-site and post-engagement that are on time and within the scope of the assigned project, including project journals, status reports, and other standard documentation.

  • Understand industry practices and Red Hat's policies, procedures, and values 

  • Learn new technologies and apply those concepts to customer needs.

  • Demonstrate good judgment in selecting best methods to obtain solutions

What you will bring:

  • Experience working directly with enterprise stakeholders on a range of development and deployment projects 

  • Knowledge of infrastructure technologies on a delivery level.

  • Knowledge and experience implementing and deploying container technologies in an enterprise setting and with enterprise-wide deployments, including highly customized and air-gapped environments.

  • Demonstrated  knowledge of and experience with Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and container technologies like Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, and Docker

  • Demonstrated experience with Ansible and Automation  (RH Ansible Automation Platform)

  • Hands-on experience implementing DevOps principles and CI/CD pipelines and GitOps-driven workflows.

  • Ability to code in some programming languages (Go, Python, Java...).

  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies

  • Ability to communicate value, progress, and metrics of key projects to required stakeholders of technical and business audiences 

  • Willingness to travel up to 50%

  • Fluent language skills in Spanish and English 

The following will be a plus: 

  • Practical experience with agile methods  

  • Knowledge of Virtualization

  • Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (Red Hat OpenShift AI is a plus)

  • Any Red Hat certification

  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification, or the ability to get it within a few weeks of the start date, is a plus.

  • Interest in, passion for, and experience working with open source technologies and communities
