You will take ownership of critical database infrastructure, leading the transformation from outsourced management to an in-house, modernized platform. A key focus will be driving the migration of large-scale Oracle workloads to PostgreSQL while ensuring stability across legacy and cloud-native systems. You will work across multi-cloud environments, primarily AWS and GCP, helping define scalable, secure, and cost-efficient database architectures. This position blends deep hands-on engineering with architectural leadership, requiring both operational excellence and strategic thinking. You will directly influence the reliability, performance, and evolution of core systems that power global digital operations.

Accountabilities:

You will lead the modernization, optimization, and operation of enterprise-scale database and infrastructure systems across multi-cloud environments.

  • Architect, plan, and execute the migration of legacy Oracle workloads to PostgreSQL, ensuring performance, reliability, and data integrity
  • Act as the primary SME for PostgreSQL, driving best practices in design, administration, and scalability
  • Manage and optimize database systems across AWS, GCP, and select Azure environments within a multi-cloud strategy
  • Tune complex database queries and system configurations across Oracle and PostgreSQL environments for optimal performance
  • Ensure compliance with security, SOX requirements, encryption standards, and access control policies
  • Oversee capacity planning, backup strategies, disaster recovery (RTO/RPO), and automated failover systems
  • Provide Level III escalation support for critical production incidents, including on-call and after-hours support
  • Support Oracle licensing awareness and risk mitigation during transition phases
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure stable, scalable infrastructure delivery
  • Requirements:

You bring deep database expertise combined with strong infrastructure and cloud engineering experience in enterprise environments.

    • Extensive experience in Oracle Database Administration (11g/12c/19c) across Linux and Windows environments
    • Strong hands-on expertise with PostgreSQL, including enterprise-scale migration from Oracle
    • Proven experience operating in multi-cloud environments, especially AWS and GCP (Azure experience is a plus)
    • Solid understanding of database performance tuning, query optimization, and system-level configuration
    • Experience with disaster recovery planning, backup strategies, and high-availability architectures
    • Familiarity with database security practices, compliance frameworks (SOX), and access control systems
    • Knowledge of Oracle licensing and enterprise compliance considerations
    • Experience with monitoring, scheduling, and database observability tools
    • Strong understanding of data modeling, database design, and normalization principles
    • Ability to support production systems and respond effectively to high-severity incidents
    • Benefits:

      • Competitive salary range of CAD $106,250 – $125,000 plus performance-based bonus
      • Hybrid cloud-first environment with exposure to AWS, GCP, and modern database platforms
      • Comprehensive health, dental, and wellness benefits
      • Performance bonus eligibility in addition to base compensation
      • Opportunity to lead high-impact database modernization initiatives at enterprise scale
      • Exposure to global, large-scale data systems and mission-critical infrastructure
      • Inclusive and collaborative engineering culture
      • Equal opportunity workplace with strong commitment to diversity and inclusion.
