Job Description
We are seeking a Director of Software Engineering who combines strategic leadership with strong technical depth and a GenAI-first mindset. This leader will drive modern product development for the Visa Direct Alias platform, applying Generative AI to improve engineering productivity, accelerate delivery, strengthen software quality, and enhance operational excellence. The role will lead cross-functional engineering teams responsible for building, scaling, and evolving mission-critical payment products and cloud-native platform capabilities on GCP.
The Director of Software Engineering will lead the product development organization for ADS / Alias platform, responsible for building, scaling, and evolving mission-critical payment products and platform capabilities on GCP. This role will drive end-to-end engineering execution across product development, cloud-native services, release engineering, and production reliability, partnering closely with Product, Architecture, Security, Compliance, and Operations to deliver scalable, secure, and high-quality solutions in a complex payments environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a cross-functional engineering organization responsible for the YP ADS / Alias platform on GCP.
- Drive GenAI-first engineering practices to improve software development, testing, troubleshooting, release efficiency, and operational workflows.
- Deliver scalable, secure, and highly reliable distributed systems that support business, client, and regulatory needs.
- Drive engineering execution across product delivery, production reliability, release readiness, and operational excellence.
- Advance modern engineering practices, including CI/CD, automation, observability, feature flags, and safe production rollouts.
- Partner across Product, Architecture, Security, Compliance, and Operations to deliver high-quality solutions with strong execution predictability.
- Build and develop a high-performing team through strong leadership, coaching, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Provide clear communication of engineering strategy, priorities, risks, and progress to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Basic Qualifications:
- 10+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 7 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 4 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 13+ years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- 15+ years of relevant engineering experience with deep expertise in distributed systems, cloud platform engineering, and production operations.
- Strong experience with GCP services, cloud-native architectures, Kubernetes/containerized workloads, CI/CD pipelines, observability tooling, and infrastructure automation.
- Demonstrated success improving engineering execution through release discipline, test automation, environment governance, progressive delivery, and feature flag adoption.
- Experience leading reliability initiatives such as incident management, root cause analysis, service ownership, alert tuning, production readiness, and operational excellence.
- Familiarity with modern engineering productivity practices, including use of Generative AI to improve development, testing, troubleshooting, and operational workflows.
- Experience in payments, financial technology, or other highly regulated environments.
- Familiarity with compliance, security, and control requirements for global payment platforms.
- Advanced Spanish & English Level
- Be based in Bogota, Colombia
