Job Description

Visa is seeking a Senior Credit Risk Manager to join the Credit and Settlement Risk team, with primary responsibility for the credit and settlement risk oversight of Acquirers and Sub-acquirers within the Visa payment ecosystem in Brazil.

This role will be focused on the active and preventive financial monitoring of these participants, supporting the development of a robust and forward-looking risk management approach across the payment flow. The successful candidate will also play a key role in enhancing the risk management framework, particularly in light of evolving regulatory requirements, including BACEN Resolution 522.

Working cross-functionally with teams across Risk, Legal, Compliance, Sales, Products, Finance, and other core business functions, this leader will help drive a consistent and comprehensive approach to mitigating financial risks, strengthening governance, and supporting the resilience of the acquiring ecosystem.

The Sao Paulo based position will report directly to the VP, LAC Head of Credit Settlement Risk. As part of an extended Global Team, the Senior Credit Risk Manager will also be involved in managing and implementing the Global Credit Settlement Risk Policy.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead the credit and settlement risk management of Acquirers and Sub-acquirers participating in the Visa payment arrangement.
  • Develop and implement a proactive monitoring framework for credit and liquidity risk, including dashboards, risk indicators, and key controls.
  • Perform financial and credit analysis, assign internal risk ratings, and define appropriate guarantee, collateral, and other mitigation requirements.
  • Monitor the integrity and accuracy of the end-to-end payment flow, identifying potential vulnerabilities and escalation needs.
  • Prepare executive risk reporting and structured materials to support governance routines and recurring regulatory reporting.
  • Conduct ad hoc financial risk assessments to support strategic decisions related to the portfolio.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to optimize risk actions and address issues related to settlement failures, liquidity events, or participant insolvency.
  • Support and educate participants on best practices in financial risk management, settlement discipline, and risk governance.
  • Contribute to the continuous enhancement of policies, methodologies, and processes to ensure a consistent and scalable risk management approach.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Risk Management, or a related field.
Significant experience in credit risk, counterparty risk, financial risk, or settlement risk management, preferably within payments, financial services, banking, card schemes, acquiring, or fintech.
Strong expertise in financial statement analysis, credit assessment, liquidity analysis, and risk monitoring frameworks.
Experience managing or assessing risks related to Acquirers, Sub-acquirers, or similar financial counterparties.
Proven ability to build dashboards, management reporting, and executive-level risk materials.
Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams and influence decision-making.
Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving capabilities.
Fluency in English and Portuguese. Spanish is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience operating within regional or global risk frameworks.
Ability to operate independently in a high impact, high visibility role 
Be analytical, organized, accurate and detail-oriented with fact-based discipline
Ability and willingness to take initiative on new projects and work well in a team environment
Visa or other payment industry knowledge a plus
