Reporting to the VP of Finance, this role sits within Finance Operations and works closely with leaders across engineering, product development, and security. You’ll build and own the financial models, forecasting processes, and reporting rhythms that support operating expense management, investment tracking, and resource planning across highly dynamic, investment-driven teams.
This is a high-impact leadership role at the center of strategic decision-making. Your work will bring visibility to key cost drivers such as headcount, infrastructure usage, tooling, and third-party spend, while helping the business make better decisions on product investments, resource allocation, and long-term technology and security priorities.
What you'll be doing
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and monthly reporting across Technology, Product, and Security.
- Own financial reporting across these functions, including OpEx tracking, headcount, and investment performance.
- Develop forecasts covering resource planning, program spend, and initiative-level investments.
- Build financial models to support engineering capacity and product development planning.
- Analyze variances across headcount, infrastructure usage, tooling, and third-party spend, highlighting key drivers and risks.
- Develop unit economics across Technology and Product investments, including cost per feature, product, or customer segment where applicable.
- Identify cost efficiency opportunities across engineering, tooling, infrastructure usage, and vendor spend.
- Partner with technical teams to understand cost drivers and performance trends.
- Support margin improvement and cost optimization initiatives through data-driven insights.
- Build financial models and business cases for product investments, technology initiatives, and security programs.
- Evaluate trade-offs across product prioritization, resource allocation, and build vs. buy decisions.
- Track actual performance against investment assumptions and provide visibility into ROI and impact.
- Support strategic decisions tied to product roadmaps, engineering investments, and security initiatives.
- Lead financial evaluation of vendor contracts across SaaS tools, infrastructure providers, and security vendors.
- Partner with Technology, Product, and Security leaders to support vendor selection and negotiations through modeling and benchmarking.
- Monitor vendor spend and contract performance, identifying risks and optimization opportunities.
- Support ongoing vendor financial management through spend tracking, forecasting, and efficiency analysis.
- Produce regular reporting on spend, headcount, and investment outcomes across Technology, Product, and Security.
- Establish cost tracking, budget controls, and governance processes.
- Ensure accuracy, transparency, and consistency of financial and operational data across systems and reporting.
- Translate complex technical and product concepts into clear, actionable financial insights for senior stakeholders.
About You
- 8–12+ years of experience in FP&A, strategic finance, or commercial finance roles, ideally in high-growth or operationally complex environments.
- Proven experience leading annual planning and quarterly forecasting cycles and owning financial outcomes across a cost center P&L.
- Advanced financial modeling skills, including scenario analysis, sensitivity modeling, and long-range planning.
- Experience supporting technical organizations and translating complex technical or product concepts into actionable financial insights.
- Strong ability to influence senior stakeholders across Technology, Product, and Security.
- Demonstrated experience synthesizing large, ambiguous datasets into clear recommendations for executive audiences.
- High proficiency in Excel / Google Sheets.
- Experience with SQL and data visualization tools such as Tableau, Looker, or Power BI.
- Experience managing or mentoring junior team members and raising the quality and rigor of team output.
- A detail-oriented, action-oriented approach with strong ownership, accountability, and urgency.
